Normally, white smoke which is pillow stuffing white means coolant is getting burned. It will have a smell like antifreeze. These 6.2 engines will put out an oily feeling dirty white smoke when they are cold. New working glow plugs (gps is not an abbreviation for glow plugs by the way.) with...
There is a fuel strainer "sock" in the fuel tank. That could very well be gummed up and not allowing more than the fuel needed for a no load idle. Dropping the tank and pulling the fuel pick up is probably a good idea. The straps holding the tank up will probably break when you go to unbolt...
My school camera broke about the time I started bringing the parts for this project to my class. I can't bring my phone or a personal owned camera on campus. So no pictures from there.
We ground the head off a starter bolt and threaded that end. Then brazed the stud to the 1993 C30 6.5 block...
Any diesel is in theory a multifuel. The gm 6.2/6.5, ford 6.9/7.3 and early Cummins BT engines with the VE pump all had rotary injection pumps. They like diesel and only diesel or the pumps will fail in some cases. Especially if gasoline is mixed in. That covers feeding engines that will easily...
The negative cable for the rear battery is hooked to the positive cable of the front battery. Is that front battery cable maybe touching the truck and causing a ground?
You unplugged the green wire from the fast idle solenoid. Now, unplug the other green wire from the cold start advance solenoid. Your engine sounds should be back to normal.
Now, look at the very outside back edge of the passenger side cylinder head. Below the valve cover but above the...
There is a guy in upstate NY that used to join discussions like this. JDMarris I think is his username. He claimed to have had over 60 vehicles with 6.? engines over the years. He also wrote that he worked as a Chevy mechanic back when they were new.
He wrote about his one and only crank...
Besides the possibility of gear oil or brake fluid. Just regular moisture in the air could cause low speed grabbing the first few times you hit the brakes. I have that in one of my trucks. No leaks. Just O'Reilly's house brand shoes.
New studs are are cheap and in theory should be better...
There is now way to just plug in a civilian square body full gauge set. I have found at least 3 different flexible circuit board wire routing while trying to figure out a way to do this. There is the CUCV wiring, the civilian idiot light wiring pattern and the civilian gauge pattern. All use...
Can you hear/feel the solenoid click when it is installed? Maybe your engine isn't grounded causing no power to flow to the solenoid when on the truck?
I even dated a girl from Elgin back in college too.
Actually, you are surrounded by green iron owners. We just 2 weeks ago had a gathering in Bryan/College station.
Check out the LSMVPA for all the afflicted in the area. We meet the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Camp Mabry.
I don't have my truck here to look at so I can't answer your exact question. However, I have had broken door latch springs. I couldn't figure out a way to install new springs and still have all my finger tips. I would suggest you replace the latch.
Kwai, Colton and I showed up at Ed's compound around sunrise after driving all night eight years ago next month. We were there to pick up a M109 and a pair of M101's Kwai had bought on GL and Ed had gotten off base. They weren't his, he was just the storage/middle man. Yet, he had checked all...
I bought a multifuel hand throttle and just cut it down to fit. Works great. Looks stock too.
If you are not concerned about keeping it stock. Try to get an aircraft type vernier style hand throttle. Infinite adjustment is nice.
The engine should start faster than you can think "let go!" To yourself once you turn the key. Hot or cold with everything working correctly. Sometimes you will learn that two glow plug cycles below a certain temperature to avoid cranking more than 2 seconds is needed.
My first 6.2 with...
I had DPS pass me on my way home. He just waved. Colton got Amber back to Waco and then home himself without issue as well.
I hope everyone else made it home ok.
Here he is the video I got of the convoy leaving yesterday morning:

Once again it was great to see...
Do you need help as I roll through Clint?
Colton just called from school. He made it out of the driveway this morning before the u-joints started squeaking. He parked it and drove something else to school. I guess we should have test drove it last night. We might swap another shaft on in a...
