Texas is getting rain this year. Some of us have gotten 20 inches just this month when we normally get around 4 or 5 inches for May. The ground is saturated and any thing that falls now is going to run off on the surface. We got more than 3 inches in about an hour here yesterday afternoon...
Mechanically, they shouldn't effect anything on the engine. I have a Cherry Bomb 2 into 1 chamber muffler on my 6.2 powered M715. It sure has a nice bark to it around 2400 rpm and up. I am sure your glass packs bark a bit as well.
1985 K30 with a J code 6.2 diesel engine is what you need a filter for. I have two of my trucks with the K and N. They fit right in without issue. I don't have access to my part numbers right now though.
Glad you got it running.
What are you going to do with the old starter? I like the old direct drive units and would be interested since you are so close by.
The 12 volt glow plugs won't fail if they have 12 volts going through them. That is the purpose of the resistor bypass. Another plus with the 60G is that they are self regulating. Meaning they will heat up, turn off, heat up, repeat. At least in theory. Watching one sitting on a vice with...
It has already been pointed out, but a 195° thermostat is what is supposed to be there. It really does make a difference. The coolant getting just a bit more time to stay in the radiator and let the heat transfer to the air is important. Going to a 195° should help some.
My M715 has a 6.2...
Fast idle is the correct terminology. Two things happen when the coolant is below 95° in a properly working system.
The green wire at the IP has two ends. One of those ends goes to a solenoid inside the IP. That is the cold advance solenoid. It advances the timing to aid the engine in...
Check the grounds as mentioned above. Also, reach up there and verify with your fingers that the big electrical plug for the dash is fully seated. There are tabs at the top and bottom. You can feel if they are in all the way.
If everything is checked and you still have the problem. I would...
The oil pan, exhaust manifold, pulleys and IP top lid are different. Along with the oil psi sender and temp sender. Everything else is the same. Do a new rear main seal when swapping oil pans.
Each battery should be fully charged and load tested. That means 12.6 volts per battery with the engine off. Each alternator should put out 14.4 volts when running.
That means your 11 and 22 volts is way off. I know you are tracking down issues, but starting with fully charged batteries...
When you adjust the drag link, you will change the orientation of the steering wheel to straight ahead driving. Do you by chance have your blinkers turn off coming out of a turn in one direction fast and never turn off when coming out of a turn in the other direction?
Do you have the flame heat starter assist? Could it possibly be leaking your used motor oil fuel on top of the turbo and it is then running around the clamp to look like a turbo leak? Mine had that exact same leak several years ago is why I ask. I thought it was a bad turbo as well until I...
Warthog has a M1009 with a cut out over that area. He can tell you exactly where to cut.
I suggest you move the shift lever to different spots and then try getting at the cotter pin and plug. 4Lo worked best for me. Bear hugging the t-case from both front and back works too. Just wear...
Yes on a shirt for Colton and I.
Yes on a fall event. However, if it is during football season I can't for sure be there because of Colton in the band. All of October is full of band stuff Friday and Saturday until well after dark both days.
Here is the video I got of what I thought was...
I don't have a turbo, but I do have a 6.2 hooked to a NV4500. No such problems as you report. I agree with the several post above suggesting motor mounts, trans mount, tcase mount, rear axle locator pins, etc be checked.
Just the head lights or all the lights? If it is just headlights, the plug for the high/low beam switch is probably coming apart because it is wrapped around the shifter linkage somehow.
It seems we are all having "life" interfere with our plans for the weekend. It will just be Colton and I. His girlfriend has some family stuff she can't get out of. He has an academic UIL district competition in Brenham tomorrow. When ever that is over and he gets home, we will head to the...
Does the museum know about the MKT and that it will be operational? They might make you by a vendor space. I mention that because Mullins is very picky about everything that happens that weekend. He told me to remove my M715 one year because it wasn't WWII. Another year he didn't like the XZL...
The green wire has two ends at the IP. The cold start timing advance inside the pump and the fast idle solenoid on the outside. The other end of the green wire is on a switch/sensor located at the passenger side rear of the passenger side head. That part gets power anytime the key is turned on...
