I would say no. The water will seperate itself to the bottom of the fuel unless it is emulsified. Emulsions are usually caused by over agitation. The water should first be drained fromt the bottom of your collection tank. Then you can heat the oil to a safe level to "burn off" the whatever water...
A good idea would be to use one of the large clear plastic totes. Pump the oil your trying to refine into the tote. Leave it sit over night and if there is water or an emulsion it will settle to the bottom and you will see a definite line on the side of the tote where it seperates. Pump the oil...
Run it throught the centrifuge then through the filters. ten micron and then the five. Anything smaller than 5 is just a waste of time and money in my opinion. I work at a large biodiesel plant and that is how we are set up. It works well.
I figured out that I can not register it as an rv with the state. I have to have the "D" plates and get it inspected bi-annually because of weight, etc. So my only real option is to talk to the inspector and hope he gives me a thumbs up to keep one in the driveway.

I didn't see the 5 ton rating. The truck I am looking at is just over that. Its close enough that it could be put on a diet to get it there but I would imagine they'll look at the original gvw and say no. I'll have to check with them when I get a chance.

Yes, that is my intention. If it is infact the bolt that breaks, It would be easy enough to address. Some top notch ARP bolts or the like would likely take care of the problem. If it isn't the bolt and the rod is the problem then that leaves few if any realistic options to fix it.

That statement is missleading. Rods will bend on the compression/exhaust strokes. They will pull apart/break on the intake/power strokes. It all depends on the stresses in the motor and the condition of the material. Most don't fail all at once. It is from abuse over a period of time.

I think that is the question to answer. But without a major knowledge in metallurgy or a system to test it, it will remain unanswered. Maybe some one that has had a rod failure can post some pictures and maybe we can see where it is breaking and determine whether its the bolt or the rod itself...
