oh yeah, and someone told me that the limited slip differential in the front of the 1028 can be a little squirrely with snow or ice on the road - but that probably wouldn't be a probably for you in California
The backup lights don't seem to be working correctly now in my m1028. When I put the truck in reverse, the backup lights come on for a second or two, and then they go out. If I put it back in park and then back in reverse, the lights will again come on for one or two seconds, and then go out...
I want to keep the pintle hitch on my m1028, as I eventually intend on getting a 101A2 trailer, but I also want to add a regular 2" receiver as I will need it for hauling other trailers and things.
My original intention was to either simply weld a 2" receiver tube directly onto the bottom of...
yes, the acetone will remove the primer.
I bet you can just put on the herculiner over the primer.
the purpose of the acetone is to remove any oil or wax or anything that might inhibit the herk. from sticking.
but if you have already primed, you should be good to go.
Thanks!
It turned over to 67,000 miles while I was driving it home.
Hmm, I've looked at the driveshaft and I don't believe it has any dents or anything - I've also looked at the transfer case and it looks pretty clean - but didn't check for any cracks - I'll do that though.
Took me a while but I've added some pictures of the 1028.
The truck is great. I got 16mpg on the first tank of gas (mostly highway). The only thing I have replaced so far is the e-brake cable, and I was able to get it inspected. I do have questions about the front locking hubs and adding...
Well, a friend rode with me to pick up my CUCV last night and I have to said I couldn't be more happy. The truck is in great shape and runs perfectly. The seller, was awesome and knows these trucks inside and out and was very helpful and informative. I drove it 4.5 hours home last night with...
ok, so the computer guy for our department has a son, who is the computer guy for the campus police department and I just spoke with him in the parking lot.
He said that they got the truck for free from a military base in GA. He said the really only use it for picking up cones and then for...
Hey guys, thanks for the information. I may actually stop by there today and see if I can talk with the chief of police about them.
I'm assuming they work - but I will obviously ask about that as well. They are just parked next to each other - and i've never seen them being driven around at...
Hey guys.
I'm close to being ready to sell my current truck - so am getting closer to being ready to buy a cucv.
I work in the biology dept. of a university and have noticed that the university police department has two cucvs - one is a 1009 and one is a 1008. I'm wondering if they got them...
Hey guys, thanks for the kind greetings
I live west of Harrisonburg, at the bottom of shenandoah mountain in a little hollow up against the George washington national forest.
Yeah, I need a truck that can tow and carry a lot of weight - as a truck load of green oak or hickory or locust can...
Hey guys, I just joined steel soldiers. I became interested in military vehicles about 10 years ago now (time flies) when I was doing some archeological surveys at Fort Pickett in Virginia. That base is pretty big and has some really remote areas and they issued us a couple of trucks, one of...
