CUCV 6.2L and HUMMUR 6.2L engines. Any differences?

I suspect, intake gaskets, oil pan (the depo uses black rtv instead), and maybe the gasket for the oil filter adapter.

CUCV 6.2L and HUMMUR 6.2L engines. Any differences?

My logic, is that cucv engines get pulled for a problem, but hummv get pulled often for the 6.5 repower and may not be bad.

CUCV 6.2L and HUMMUR 6.2L engines. Any differences?

I got two in a can, one was tagged "removed, engine noise". Put it on an engine stand, pulled the oil pan, expecting a rod bearing bad. Bottom end was virtually new, no wear at all. Pulled the glow plugs, two glow plug tips missing. Pulled the head, near no damage. Replaced head, engine is...

CUCV 6.2L and HUMMUR 6.2L engines. Any differences?

I have 2 hummer 6.2's in my garage on stands. The only differences I see, are the oil filter adapter, exhaust manifolds, fuel lines route a bit different, intake /crankcase pressure valve is plumbed on one side only, the air fan clutch, crank pully, and the glow plugs are bullet connectors, nut...

    M1008 - first drive

With Choll's 3 M1009's, my M1009, and the two fire truck M1008, and M1028, the locals already refer to my place as the Van Buren Township Army base. LOL.

M1008 Diesel Gas Cap - Want Locking Gas Cap

I always thought the civi K30 diesel cap was the same. I'm pretty sure the one of my old 6.9 Ford was the same.

    Tranny or T-case cracked!

Bob, sounds like the transfer case adapter, mounts between the tranny case and tranfer case. Those should be readilly available for cheep, same as the civilian used several years, but gotta be for a turbo 400 tranny.

    New HMMWV spy photos

The hummer is due for a reconfig. Several companies are readying prototypes. Navistar has one also. If you saw the Navistar, its looks is way heavier, and looks like that new Navistar dually truck. A friend does government reman work, in conjunction with Cummins, and he has two hummers sitting...

    644 miles on a towbar!

Bob, sounds like the tow bar deal worked foryou. A bit less expensive than the mil tow bar, and more universal. Glad the trip went well. Get that truck running, and I'll bring my M1009 over and buy ya a cup of java.

Thinking more about 12 volts from the 24 volt system...

My post was regarding the M1008/1009 series. The deuce system I wasnt aware of that. How about using diodes to create a voltage divider? My electrical skills are a bit rusty, but seems like I used to do that to split voltages.

Thinking more about 12 volts from the 24 volt system...

I run my 12 volt fire department equippment off one battery. The 12 volt truck acc. run off same battery with no problem. My plans are to pull the lead for the 24 v block behind passenger door on my M1009, off the 24 volt block under the hood, connect it to the front battery, making a 12 volt...

    transmission fluid

Re: RE: transmission fluid Actually, its the opposite. Forward delays shifts, backward makes them sooner.

    engine blow by

The smoke out the filler was likely steam, from moisture that condensed in the oil. On my job, we test diesels on dynos, and after a headgasket failure, we change oil and run it at rated for an hour or so to boil the moisture out. I'd certainly change the fluids.

    TH400 transmission, truth or myth????

    Amen to that, Clinto.

    TH400 transmission, truth or myth????

I used to do the trannies at the stealerships, as well as a side business building performance trannies. The 400 is exactly like any other, in that if overfilled, it will froth and foam, and vent fluid, and yes, the overfilling can lead to damage. Those folks at those mags, are low paid, and...
