86humv: Thanks and thats what I thought and think what I have. 242 with red gear. Do the wheels and tires look small? Are these what originally came with the truck when new? Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks Doc: Good question. I measured it with a tape measure floor to top of tire is 34.5-35. Tires are standard 37x12.50R16.16.5LT Military OZ. Do you see any issues in these pics? How wide should they be? 37"? The truck is an 06' and came with 12 bolt wheels from IP. Now that I'm...
Retiredwarhorses: I have a 242 t-case and a red speedo gear. I lubed my cable and all other parts look good. Speedo is running 5-6 mph fast against gps and road speed signs. Tire diameter is 34.5”. Should I try a 41 tooth gear? I have a M1152A1. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
I've tried but its tough. Even with the adapter out. Thanks for all you're help. I'll try to look for the mark and maybe get some different gears to experiment with.
Hey Ya'll. Still stumped. I removed and checked the elbow gear adapter and the red gear inside the t-case - yes it is red. All looked perfect. I cleaned, lightly lubricated and reinstalled. At 20 it seems close to accurate but at 30 and 40 its still 5-6 mph fast.
I have one more question...
Action: I did a little research and have 2 questions: 1) Do you know which gear I should try? How many teeth? What color?; and 2) what is the gear ratio for our trucks? I think we both have M1152A1 ~ correct? Did you change the gear in your truck? Much appreciated.
p.s. Couldn’t it be...
Thanks Doc: Do you mean the gears in speedo itself or L shape gear at transfer case? I think u r right - b/c if the cable was an issue it would either jerk like it did before or be too slow. Taking that a step a further - its likely being driven too fast by the gear at transfer case - don't u...
Sorry to keep bothering you all on this. The good news is my speedometer is running smoothly now - the bad news is that it's about 5 MPH toot fast. I tested it with a speedo app on my phone and the app matched a digital speed warning sign in my area. Any ideas on this? Is this normal? Are...
I was referring only to the seat bases themselves. My mounts were already present on the floor so I just had to bolt the basses in. Sorry for the confusion - my bad.
Thank you. I removed, lubricated and reinstalled the shaft. I have it reconnected at the speedo but can’t seem to get the pin on gear box side back into the cable housing and on the shaft. Is the shaft square on this end and fits into pin? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Gentlemen: I started to do this but have a quick question. Do I loosen the large top nut closer to the cable or the smaller one closer to the gear box? Or hood bottom nut and loosen top one? I just don’t want to loose anything or mess it up. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you Karl & Action. Much appreciated. I assume I should also disconnect the speedo end as well to make sure it's fully extended when I re-install it? R u guys sure? Nothing to loose - if I can't pull it out or push it all the way back, I'll just replace it. Nothing to loose and good...
JetbikeAnt: I'm having the exact same issue and have the same question. I traced the cable back to the crankcase and was thinking about removing it, laying it flat on the ground, remove shaft from sheath, grease and then reinstall. I'm weary about just pulling the shaft out in place. It it...
