What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

You folks that yank an entire powerplant and put in a new one in a weekend make me quite envious of your determination.

    what is it?

Well...here's the manufacturer's page: http://www.uec-electronics.com/mrap-c4isr-vehicle-power-distribution-unit-pdu-2/ Also...look at the freakin' prices we're charged for them: As much as $14,700 if you only order a few, or as "little" as $2,261 if you order 250 at once.

    Help identify antenna/mast

140 Messages available now...sorry about that before I believe he was making an offer to me, stating that he had one for sale in the event that you weren't selling/you wanted too much for it. That said, all my recent antenna and mast acquisitions have been for next to nothing. As much as I'd...

    what is it?

I don't know the actual end use of this thing, but in general, it's a nice box for anyone with a bunch of pieces of 24V equipment in their truck. They're not just on-off switches, but circuit breakers rated for the amount of current printed on the front label of each switch. That's a nice...

    Help identify antenna/mast

If you decide you don't need it, there's a spot in my garage that I'll clean out just for this. I've been gathering antenna masts lately and one of those QEAM units is on my lists, though it's not as high up on it now that I found an AB-577. The AB-577 is not nearly as quick and convenient, but...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I'm going to second Moog for the application. I'll add that one of the cage codes that pops up with the NSN for many of the steering parts is for Federal-Mogul (81851), which is the company that owns Moog (their steering and suspension components subsidiary). I think this qualifies Moog as...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Ran myself out of fuel! That jumpy sender conditioned me to just ignore my fuel gauge. Turns out, I miscalculated how much I had driven since my last refueling and had the sheer joy of running out of fuel at a stop light. In a cascade of failures, I found that someone played with my road...

    Stock, Stock Looking or Modified

Again, mod away. Your big friction point you'll run into here is if you have something exceedingly rare and you decide to just chop it up and treat it as a beater vehicle. As well, if you start modifying the drive line with band-aid fixes and start complaining that your truck isn't working...

H-1 Ground Support Heater, NSN 4520-01-056-4269

Lots of back and forth on this one on paper. Got a hold of a friend that's adjacent to the AF and like a good boy, wouldn't let me see the manual, but he was happy to hear out my troubles and look over the manual himself and provide some advice. On the circuit, he indicated that the latest...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Got my Pitman Arm and Idler Arm replaced yesterday. That pitman arm did NOT want to come off the steering gear with the help of penetrating oil, hammering directly on the puller bolt, or anything. What finally did it in was dropping the sway bar, them setting the impact wrench in it to beat on...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Decided to straighten up the radiator fins. NG mashed up the top of the transmission cooler and all of the power steering cooler. Now they're nice and orderly (thanks NAPA fin comb!). After that, I dove into replacing the pitman and idler arms, but couldn't quite finish the job (currently...

    Remold tire from Treadwright anyone?

Honestly, looking at the process, I think that these actually look pretty good. If I couldn't find newer, used surplus tires in my area for a reasonable price, I'd absolutely give these a shot. They don't quite leave the same bad taste as traditional retreads do.

    luverne brush guard dimension ?

Wow, that looks great! Really makes me want to go straighten mine up so that it looks factory fresh like your's does.

    Glow plug controller clicking noise

Is anything else cutting out at the same time you get the clicks? I'm wondering if you have your circuit breaker tripping and resetting over and over. Honestly, your best diagnostic here is probably going using an ammeter on different circuits to try and figure out exactly what's toggling on...

    HMMWV Transmission - Identify

The NSN on that tag is 2520-01-489-0850. This points back to a 4L80E. As well, that's a tag showing when, where, and how repairs were completed. Repaired in Ft Hood on "1319" (131st day of 2009? I'm not sure on the date code). Repaired per NMWR 9-2520-582.

Oh hey, that looks great and is pretty smart!

    HMMWv seats

This is unrelated to the general topic, but seeing your photos... ...do your rear tool-access doors also flap in the wind like mine? I'll be going down the road and then suddenly hear the loud thunk of one flipping open and slapping the door. This is 100% fixable issue with a set of draw...

    Geared Hub Maintenance Questions

Another +1 for Hylomar. Farkin' expensive for the volume you get, but it works very well. It never cures, so it's a great thing to use in areas that need frequent maintenance. You can often re-use the applied sealant if it didn't get fouled or separate off of the part. Its primary users...

GoDove HMMWV GMV, Anyone get EUC?

I try not to be too much of a pessimist, but... I'd hold on tight to all of your travel/transportation receipts as well as your approval letters, in case you show up and tell you that you can't take it away when you get there, despite what they've told you now. Might help with getting them to...

H-1 Ground Support Heater, NSN 4520-01-056-4269

Confirmed that the unit is indeed...wired wrong. And the spare panel I have? Also wired wrong. Both of these are setup with 24V going straight to the power input. I spent some time carefully reading the water-damaged label on the ignition control module and was able to decipher...
