    Front axel boot questions?

So much for calmly trying to diffuse the arguement.

Poll - Who has done the Doghead Relay Conversion

PMCS. After reading all the horror stories before I bought my first one, I considered the relay swap as important as fluids and filters.

    M715 carb.

Clean out the needle and seat as well. Mine used to run perfect until all of a sudden about what you describe. I would pull the bowl, clean it out, put it back on and be running fine again. I had 4 fuel filters on it at one point and stuff was still getting by. Taking the tank off to get...

    Front axel boot questions?

I don't think either side is going to win the other over in this arguement. So why don't we stop trying. We each own our trucks and have to maintain them as we see fit.

    Name that noise

I was faster than a walk which at our age equals a run, right? I got a Snap-On 15mm combination wrench to fit between the bracket and the pulley today. All 3 bolts going into the pump were loose at least 3 turns. Got the belt tight, rpm set and took it for a test drive. Problem fixed and...

    New M715 owner from Oklahoma

Just 11 in the past 3 years. Hardly worth mentioning really around this crowd.

    New M715 owner from Oklahoma

Yep, you have wandered into a place where there are thousands just like you. If it is mechanical and old, or newer. Most of us have an interest or a collection already. Wait until you meet others face to face. Soon you will be going to visit. Then meeting more and visiting more. Pretty...

    Name that noise

Oh, I thought about the pink wire about the time I got past the front tire. By then, momentum had me going for the key. Good point. I thought about not including that but figured full honesty no matter how stupid it made me look was the only way to go. Even on small stuff only about 10...

    Name that noise

I can't make it die anymore sitting still like I could by bopping the throttle with the old pump. I won't really know until I fix the drip and get the ps pump back on tight so I can take it down the road. Probably Monday if things go right.

    Altenator parts/snapped flange

OK, I was thinking one of the bottom ears. Since that is a threaded hole. Anyway you fix it will be put to the test by tightening the bolt up. Add a large washer, longer bolt and nut to the mix so the crack won't have to hold tension. If your local welding shops only charge by the hour...

    Brake drum removal, m37

I just read your email and figured I better check here before I write back. Are you going with new hoses and rebuilt/new wheel cylinders? I ask because if you were planning to do that. Grinding off the tie downs isn't as painful since parts are going to be bought anyway.

    Name that noise

I know, the beloved 6.2 is such a nice smooth running and quiet engine that we never hear any noises unless our ear is next to a valve cover and we make sure it is actually on since we can't always tell by just standing at the front of the truck. Be that as it may. I replaced an IP in a...

    Brake drum removal, m37

Big hammer on the drum to try and break it loose Mark. Maybe undo the hose and bolts for the wheel cylinder, grind off the back of the shoe tie downs and let it all come off together.

    4 wd light

Pull the plug, jump the leads and turn the key on. If the light comes on, then your switch is bad. If it doesn't come on, trace circuit is you best choice. Could be a broken wire, bad plug, bad fuse, bad bulb, broken tab on the instrument cluster plug or just a dirty instrument PC mat...

    Altenator parts/snapped flange

The alternator ear snapped or the mount ear snapped? Since both can be removed, try pulling them both and taking them to a welding shop. Just be sure and pull the battery cables before you go pulling the alternator. The spark show will be cool but expensive.

    4 wd light

The NAPA part bolts on but has the plastic tab for the truck side plug in the wrong location. Mine only works if I decide to get dirty and hug the tcase, reach up there and push the plug down real hard. That keeps it going until I hit a real good bump and it works itself up a little. I just...

    M1009 Receiver hitch pics

Here are some pictures of my install on a 1009. The exact name/number of the hitch. Which was made for a Blazer/Suburban of the proper year. I didn't remove the pintle hook cross brace. Instead, I removed the bottom screws, drilled holes in the reciever cross bar and installed new longer...

    M34? Parts Help

ZiggyO near you also has a lot of Gasser parts. Nice find.

    Front axel boot questions?

He wasn't speaking for me either. I spent $50 for brand new boots and what ever the grease cost. I like knowing the proper parts in proper shape are inside the front end of my 14K pound trucks. Taking it apart is the only way to know that.
