    M109A3 30 MPH Bounce

Check your dog bones on the rear. My Gasser started jumping one day and that is how I knew to start looking for something wrong. Found a broken dog bone. Been almost 2 years now, but I remember thinking "why is the rear of the truck trying to fly?"

    IP Pump replacement

There is a very faint scribe mark on the block above the IP mount. There is an identical line on the pump mount flange. Line them up or maybe go 1/16" to the drivers side with the pump line. The pump shaft itself can only be installed one way. The pulley in the timing cover has a pin hole...

USMC Semi-Glass Forest Green too shiney

It will even out. I found the first cup of 24052 I shot from each gallon jug no matter how much I shook and mixed it was more shiny than the rest of the gallon. You can't tell which of my parts were painted when or with what now. I spent just about 4 years straight shooting something for the...

    Smokin'!

I second the brake caliper/hose problem if your pull was to the same side as the hot parts. I had this happen just a week or so ago on a USAF Suburban with the exact same parts and the exact same age as your 1009. Around $80 total for both front calipers and both front hoses fixed the problem...

    1008 starter

Why is rebuilding not an option? If you have the Delco unit now, taking it to a rebuilding in your area will probably give you a starter as good or better than one you can buy new. Total price will probably be about the same. I spent $145 to have mine redone last fall. Which is pretty close...

    Elusive blinker light ground problem

Warthog has a USAF Suburban that my class has been messing with for a while to bring up to running condition. Besides all the normal mechanical stuff. There has always been a problem with the front running lights. They didn't work, ever. The side blinkers would work, which is the same bulb...

    33" tires on M1009 CUCV

Old Ag and I wheeled our 33" tired M1009's a good bit at the March Rally in College Station. Low range on the tcase made hills that looked impossible just a matter of point and push. I was very impressed with it off road. We had a pair of M715's with us and they had more trouble on the hills...

    Alternator not charging?????

The side of the plug that is not getting voltage is the exciter wire. Trace that wire back all the way to the key. I would offer more help, but since you have a non stock wiring system. You will have to figure out what wire does what yourself.

Flickering headlights, spiking volt meter, & dash light problems

I would suggest you check the ground wires at the top of the parking brake pedal. Revolving electrical issues normally come back to a bad connection or bad ground. Then, make sure you have the big plug on the back of the gauge panel all the way on. You very well could have bent one of the...

    HMMWV Seats?

I have a set in my M715. Great improvement over stock M715. Rotten compared to stock M1009. M1009 and S10 trucks from that time period were the same. So were the fancy Suburban seats with recline and inside arm rest. Bolt right in.

How long for glow plugs to work?

I got distracted from the time I started writting above until I posted. Didn't see your post until later. Sorry. The 60 plugs have a different size spade on them. You can cut the corners off and keep the wiring stock or cut the plugs off the wires and put bigger plugs on. One of those...

How long for glow plugs to work?

The glow plugs in a 6.2 should come on anytime the engine is below 125°. It is an in direct injection engine and needs the help to get started. We are around 99° today and I have started 3 different 6.2 trucks in the last little bit. Civilian 6.2 in an Air Force Suburban took about 15...

    Global Warming and Deuce Air

Read Devilman's huge epic thread about building his M35. He struggled with an A/C install. It worked, I saw it at the 2007 GA Rally even. However, it comes down to how much are you going to drive the truck and need a/c. Compared to spending the same money on a factory a/c equiped vehicle...

    Cab repair - 1988 Chevy

Hey, I resemble that remark. Actually, it is not a bone yard. Just a storage area. The CUCVII is sitting comfortably next to a M715 W/W, besides a drop side M35 bed with a M715 frame next to that. I will get those pictures later today. Heading out to pass the Scout swim test right now.

    Black-out lights?

I think some of you are reading this and scratching your head about what we are writting. The rear black out light has 4 slots. When you are looking at it from less than about 50 yards away, you see 4 slots. As you back up they will merge to two lights per housing. When you get more than...

    Identifying Texas FMV owners

Wallew, I look forward to meeting you in person. PM me a number and location once you get settled. My inlaws live in Plano and we get up there a few times a year. Plus, green iron and work have me up there every few months too. To the subject of this thread. The Metroplex for some reason...

    6.2 fuel return miseries

Dadger Diesel on ebay always has some ready to go too.

    Black-out lights?

They are great for entertaining boy Scouts on camp outs. Once you tell them how the seperation keeping aspect of the rear lights work. They will be running around between 50-100 meters away testing it out themselves. Other than that, I haven't found a use.

To Warthog, Alredneck, and SS in general

You guys that are getting kicked off trying to type long post. Click the "remember me" box when you log in next time. I have never had that problem because I always click the box, but Warthog helped somebody out with that advice on another site a few days ago and I thought I would pass it...

    M715 carb.

Somebody could have just turned the distributor too. Mine was 40° off when I got it. Ran fine at all speeds though. Ran better once I set it correctly.
