saving military communications gear at hamfests

I went to a small hamfest in Culpeper VA a few weeks back, very few vendors but the good news was they required that the only things brought to sell at the show were radio or electronics-related. I'm getting tired of going to MV shows, hamfests, and gun shows and seeing people selling Beanie...

Welcome from up the road in Front Royal, VA. I used to live in Culpeper about 15 years back, and worked in Remington for a while. Very nice area, built up quite a bit since then...

    Dodge 882 project truck

You have a good starter truck there - most of the mid-70s Dodge trucks have dissolved into rust chunks by now, or are close to it. The 1970s was not a high water mark in the quality of American steel IMHO. But it seems your truck is lacking the typical cancer problems, so good on you! Keep...

saving military communications gear at hamfests

More mil gear! These are from over a month ago, I went to two hamfests in one weekend in early March, one in Frederick MD the other in Annandale VA. These are the military rigs I saw there, and the little I went home with. pic 1: EE-8 field phone - they were early phones that used a...

    Help identify this trailer

Looks like it started life as a M762 utility trailer, they were often used as generator trailers or carried portable light towers. The diamond plate bed is not original, looks like it had a hard life. Can be cleaned up and made pretty again, but I wouldn't bid more than a couple hundred for it...

    MTA Swapmeet 2016

Many thanks for the heads up, Lance! I talked to Chris before and looks like we'll be sharing the spot! First time back to MTA since 2010, I'm pretty excited! Now let's hope nothing last minute comes up that screws with the master plans!

    MTA Swapmeet 2016

Is it too late to reserve a spot? I could use a weekend off and need to part with a lot of stuff and make room in the shed. :)

    Valence's 1960 Pioneer Tool Trailer

I concur that the "donor" pioneer trailer is probably best used for that, and not to be restored by itself. I see too much already gone or rusted too badly to make it a resto candidate, but it will do great donating some much-needed parts to the good one you have. Make sure whatever you...

    R.I.P.--ATANKERSDAD--Dudley Taylor

Dudley was a great friend, I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with him at the rallies we attended together, he was the kind of guy who'd help you out no matter what you needed, and still acted as though he was in YOUR debt. A true credit to the hobby, wish there were 100 more like him. It's...

    R.I.P.--ATANKERSDAD--Dudley Taylor

Dudley is a great man, great father, and one of the best Steel Soldier members I have ever been fortunate enough to meet. His two sons, I am truly privileged to call both of them my friends. I will be starting daily prayers for him until I hear he is fully recovered and out of the hospital.
