PA - Spring 2016 Rausch Creek Steel Soldiers Rally

Yep - no pallet burning at RC. Sorry, if you can bring other junk lumber with no nails in them that would be just fine.

Red Ball Swap Meet in Jim Thorpe PA - March 5th 2016 - who's going?

If anyone going to the swap meet next weekend has an original Coleman lantern, military style, with the 4-piece glove, in very nice or excellent condition, I am looking to purchase one. Picture of the style is below.

New to me M1075 and M1074 PLS

Gotta get the M1076 PLS trailer to go with it, and a couple large CONEX containers for both of them to carry - so you can have your own land train!

Is this thing cool or what...

Very neat - but here's proof again that the Russkies borrow a lot of concepts and designs from other vehicles. Here's the TV1000 Rhino, developed by the Brits in the late 1950s as a concept MV. See any resemblance? Like perhaps a Gama Goat with the after-section removed?

    M882 Radio gear.

Not the best pic, this was taken by a gent in the late 1970s with a 35mm camera, and scanned, so it's not the best. However it does show the basic contents of some of the rack. What I can see: Top left, fire extinguisher Top right, AN/GRR-5 receiver Middle left, RT-524 transceiver Middle...

PA - Spring 2016 Rausch Creek Steel Soldiers Rally

I did just buy it in June, but medical problems in December and the resulting bills forced a sale that I reluctantly had to make.

PA - Spring 2016 Rausch Creek Steel Soldiers Rally

I'm in as usual. Not sure exactly when I'll arrive leave, and not sure what I'll be driving since I had to sell the CUCV, I may just borrow a friend's deuce and take it up there for the day, or ride with someone else again. Will advise when things get closer.

saving military communications gear at hamfests

Here's some more mil gear that was at the show - thankfully this time I carried my cellphone with me! pic 1: a rare, Collins-designed but made by Transworld/Datron PRC-1088, similar is function to the PRC-77 with 25 kHz spacing, 30-88 MHz, LCD display. A PRC unit that never really caught on...

saving military communications gear at hamfests

Had a big fest yesterday in Richmond VA, called the Frostfest due to the time of year. Some military commo gear there, here's what I saved: - stack of manuals related to the TGC-14 series of teletypewriters, only $1 so it goes in the library just in case. - Navy sound-powered handset...

Any of you radio guys ever see, or play with one of these?

The Gonset Communicators are alive and well at the Richmond Frostfest, a large ham radio show, that I went to today. There were perhaps 6 of them for sale at the show, 4 of them at this one table. Note the yellow CD version top right, and three of the less-flashy grey models underneath...

Scratch the firewood, coming in a civvy vehicle and don't have the room for it. Looks like I need a passenger seat again. :( Arriving late Friday afternoon and leaving Saturday evening.

2015 Va Rally at Graves Mountain September 3-7

Planning on attending again, work permitting - spent five years unemployed and now things are jumpin, so I have to work when I get the chance. However, need to have some of Cabell's BBQ again, so I feel the need to skip a little work! :)

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Is there a NAPA cross-reference of spare parts for the CUCV on here anywhere? I need to get a spare passenger side alternator belt, and air filters, and I don't know what numbers I need to give the NAPA guy.
