    I'm just curious...

One item not really mentioned that makes ownership easier is the manuals. The DOD spent millions of dollars making manuals for all military vehicles. From how to open the door and start the truck to what everything on the truck does and how to rebuild every single part the vehicle might have...

m1028 charging problem need help has on alt

It does seem that you have a hacked up system. Between that and your way out there spelling, I have no clue what your problem is. Can you post a picture or two of the alternators and batteries?

Deuce pick up GSA lot San antonio

If you guys take US-59 from Texarkana to Marshall, TX-43 to Henderson, US-79 to Jewett, FM39 to North Zulch and then TX-21 to San Marcos where it meets I-35. You will save about 100 miles, 1 hour and go about 8 miles from my house on your way down. You will also go within about 1 mile of...

    fuse box HELP

The diagram posted a few post up along with all the wiring diagrams is in the -20 manual for the truck. It is really a very good thing to look through before you do any wiring. Yes, you can run straight off the front battery, off the fuse block or several other places in between. Put if...

    My first post, CUCV owner

Elgin? Just 30 miles away from me. If you batteries load test out ok, start thinking starter replacement. These engines have to turn over fast to start as you found out. A sometime working, sometimes not spinning fast enough starter is just giving you fair warning that you are about to get...

    6.2 Civi Vs. Military

The 1984 civilian engine had a pink wire at the top of the IP and a green wire at the side of the IP. So did the military version. That is all the electronics needed to make a 6.2 from any year work. Now, switching intakes will mean you have to go over to the military CDR valve. Look at the...

    I bought a M715 today!

Get a 300 Ford with EFI and the OD transmission. Several people have done that swap and had great results. If you are bored with the other options.

    A Few M1009 Questions

Besides searching, another good information source is the manuals the government spent millions making about these trucks. They used to be available here until a week or so ago. Now, your best bet is go to this site: JATONKAM35s HOME ON THE WEB Download the CUCV manuals and read them all...

    I bought a M715 today!

The engine you end up with really kind of depends on what you plan to use the truck for. Parades and trail runs below 45 mph and the stock engine is in its element. Daily driver on pavement and occasional off road/parades then a V8 with an overdrive would be a great easy choice. Figure 8-12...

    M101A2 spare tire mount

I put it on the rear side of the rear most bed cross member. I wanted to put it on the front side of the same cross member. However, my drill couldn't fit on the front of the cross member due to the frame cross member in the way. I drilled the holes from the rear and because of the drill...

    M101A2 spare tire mount

I like the factory inside the bed mount for the spare tire on the M101A1. They are expensive to find these days, take up bed space and put more weight I can't pick up at the front of the trailer though. However, since I only have a 6 lug odd pattern M715, 6 lug Suburban or a 6 lug M1009 to...

    Towing a M35A2

Besides lifting the front end of a damaged truck. The front end of a non air shift, sprag transfer case truck needs to be either lifter or have the front hubs removed. I have flat towed my sprag equiped Gasser M35 by spending about 5 minutes with a 3/4" socket pulling the hubs. A regular air...

So are CUCV's metric or not?

The 6.2 is for sure all metric. The rest of the truck including the accessory mounts on the engine is a toss up.

Deuce pick up GSA lot San antonio

Ok, I got in the truck to actually look at it last night compared to trying to make it start and drag 130 miles. No solar charger, bad passenger seat bottom cover and a box seat bottom for the drivers spring seat. Great cover, just doesn't fit. Which is why I had to pick it up off the floor...

whats the best way to remove a deuce cab ?

If you have a loader, you will be done in a few minutes. Use the hand grabs on the back corners, the cross member under the transmission tunnel, the door hinge mounts or the hinges themselves, the windshield mounts, the little legs going down from the bottom of the cab that the front fenders...

    1009 mystery issue

Pull every fuse in the panel one at a time. Clean the fuse, the slot it goes into and make sure the prongs are out enough to mnake contact. Plus, everything written above with the manuals.

    Good Trade?

That is a very good point. However, like all the other vehicles. The DOD spent millions of dollars making step by step manuals for just about every aspect of driving and maintaning the truck. Get them and have at it. I keep coming back to this. A non running 998 add with a 5 digit price...

    charging problems

SO, if you unplug the plugs on the side of the alternators and fire up the truck, they are still charging? That is single wire alternator stuff which requires some things inside to be changed around. You might need to pull them off and take them apart again. check each component against what the...

Didn't see a solar charger. Where was it on the truck? Yes, the seat covers were good. The seat pads are all loose and were in a pile on the floor when we got to my place, but they look good.
