    M135 just not running right.....

For the most part, a coil is a coil. The resistance at the coil is what makes it 6,12 or 24. 3 Ohms resistance and you have a 24V coil. If yours is hot, pull it out and shake it. If you hear and feel sloshing around, then it is bad. good coils don't have the oil sloshing around.

    M135 just not running right.....

Accelerator pump in the carb, gummed up carb or just the wonderful 10% ethenal fuel we are forced to run? Yes, the coil could be failiing. When it starts to run bad, feel the coil. If it is just about too hot to touch, that is your problem.

m1009 daily driver, what to look for?

Not trying to be picky, but this needs to be written. A SF-97 (Standard Form number 97) is not a title. It is a Federal government form saying they were the original owners of a never titled vehicle. A SF-97 is not transferrable to another person. The person who's name is on the SF-97 has to...

    4.56 Speed Sensor

Several things have to be written in the proper order here. Hopefully I can do that. All the CUCV's with the NP208 tcase had the same speedometer gears inside when they left the factory. The M1009 being the odd geared truck, got the cable reduction box added on externally. The reduction box...

    K5 front D/S vs M1009 front D/S

An extra leaf spring was added to make it a "3/4" ton. Same axles as the K5. Just find parts for a 1985 K5 and they will match.

m1009 daily driver, what to look for?

Fast answer is one that has been used as a daily driver for at least 3 or 4 months. That is about how long it takes all the kinks to work themselves out of a 25 year old truck that probably sat more than ran for most of those years. Long answer is that just about everything electrical on the...

    Highway speed for M1009

Over 65 seems to get most people 17 mpg or so. 60-65 20 mpg. The M1009 has the most road friendly gearing of just about any military vehicle ever used. It also has just about the best braking system of any military vehicle. Can one do 70 mph safely concerning the engine? Yes. Can it...

    Aftermarket tach questions

Does the dual range give you anything other than 1:1 in high? Plug your numbers into a site like this: Randy's Ring & Pinion. RPM Calculator. If your truck is still stock electrically, then the STE/ICE tester will give you a rpm reading. Using pulse sensors in conjunction with an aftermarket...

When did military vehicles mag. come out with the CUCV issue?

You might be better off buying the dvd with all those years in it. Very large amount of information contained on that little disc.

How well do the brakes on your cucv work?

Yes, my M1009 brakes are awesome. The best of any vehicle I own.

    battery question

I don't understand the question. As stated above, the passenger side alternator is the ALT 2 and charges the rear battery. Which matches the other side up as ALT 1 and the front battery charger. Since you have it being worked on, have them do a complete rebuild and make sure they keep it...

    Need M1010 electrical help

I agree about keeping the 24V. However, it is your truck to do with as you want. A Delco SI type alternator is very easy to hook up. Battery hot to the stud with the nut on the back. Go to your local auto parts store and buy a new plug for the other two wires. Maybe $5.00 cost. Put a...

How well do the brakes on your cucv work?

The pedal should never go to the floor. Engine off, booster not charged and your pedal should not hit the floor. You have a brake problem that is more than likely master cylinder related as posted above. Get a new, not rebuilt one, bench bleed it, (I like to install it on the truck and...

airpack blowing off pressure and fluid

Yep, rebuild both while you are doing the air pack that needs it done. You have the long or short airpack? Long style has rebuild kits on ebay and at vendors for less than $100. The -20 walks you through the rebuild step by step. Very easy to follow. Master rebuild is super simple and the...

CUCV glass ball check valve and idle

Yes, I am able to stick a small screwdriver through the entire fitting. Thanks for the info about the idle not changing any with the ball removed. I will prepare my wallet for pump. Actually, I think I will find a used one and try to pull it apart to rebuild myself. Might as well learn how...
