The boarding ladder that Gunzy has is the one for the deuce. I had several of them, they worked fine on M35A2 but would be too short (if hooked on the tailgate lip) for the 5-tons. Gunzy made it work, thanks to his ingenuity. If you decide you want the one meant for your M939 series truck, it...
That would be cool to see a HMMWV at the rally, never had one there before!
I will be arriving Friday afternoon, around 5-6 pm. I doubt I will be the first one there, but if I am I'll figure out something to block off the parking area for us.
Yeah, definitely a road-only trailer. Wonder why they even bothered making it camo since it would probably never get off pavement into the woods. Better camo would be to paint it bright blue with PEPSI written in 6-foot tall letters down the side, would blend into any parking lot in America.
Might be cheaper in the long run to search Craigslist in your area and find CUCVs that are privately owned, or ones that are for sale in the classifieds here. For sure, some of what you will find for sale privately will be in better condition and for a fair price, than if you bought a GL truck...
And yet another Steel Soldier realizes too late that the M101 and M116 series trailers are not dump trailers at all, since this feature is not listed in the manual, and by doing so you can, in some cases, cause damage to the trailer.
Great fab work to the OP, but now you've gone and kicked over the hornet's nest. M920 is gonna come in here, share his pics, and kick your a$$. Well, you'll be impressed, anyways....
I honestly think dark blue with yellow lettering on the side would be excellent for that truck. Something simple, like AIR FORCE and below it the inventory number. No hood markings, just on the door. Just like it is now, just paint the cargo bed the same color.

Seeing work done as well as this gives me hope that I can refurb a CUCV in the near future, it's getting harder to find a CUCV Blazer that's without rust or other problems without paying a fortune on the East Coast.
If Murphy doesn't have it, noone does! :) I have never seen a SINCGARS radio at a hamfest, though I have seen mounts, amps, and related antenna gear for them there. The radios are like hen's teeth - if you ever see one SNAG IT because you are probably not going to see one again!
Why not just leave it loose on the floor of the trailer, and then if you need to transport something, you just reposition it? I know it's not sexy and all, but the only place that makes sense for mounting it is up front, either inside or just outside the box, but if that makes it too heavy for...
Well, fall is here and that means the last couple hamfests in the area for the year. Once October is over, hamfest season is done until early next year when snowed-in tech weenies like me feel the need to go inside and sell wares at the first few of the year at local colleges and exposition...
