I have met a couple folks with the fiberglass aftermarket tops, and have heard nothing but good things about them. psycobob had one on his ERDLator deuce this past weekend at Rausch Creek. As long as there are no cracks, I say go for it.

I think so - my GMA cover had the camo on the outside, and those straps were on the inside. I believe they are used to strap the cover to the bows or troop seats, to prevent the cargo cover from wiggling around in the wind when driving.

Sometimes the military changes their mind about not needing them, they cancel the auction and take them back to use. Be happy, Uncle Sam just saved a bunch of tax dollars to reuse the equipment.

I say go camo to match the Blazer. Plenty of M416 trailers were used in the 1980s and 1990s when 3-color camo was made standard. The trailers lasted a bit longer than the M151 jeeps in military use, a few still trickle out here and there. 3-color camo would be fine for originality. Keep up...

+1 to what harleyhouse said - the A1 variant had the surge brakes on the tongue. Your trailer, Max, is an original M416. There is no way to determine the year from the data plate, UNLESS the month and year of manufacture is stamped into it. If the rear data plate is missing, or the date isn't...

I never liked the Gama Goat. They are ugly, look like a committee of short-bus occupants designed it, it's loud as ****, the heater has two settings - off and broil, it never really floats unless you pray a couple times before you try it out, not really great for mounting guns or other weapons...

It's an M416. Very handy, and collectable if restored.

SF-97 is the government form used for you to obtain a title with. Nice M715! Looks like most everything is there - put some Marvel Mystery Oil in the spark plug holes, let it soak overnight. The next day put some fresh gas and batteries in it, see what she does!

Why not use a M101 trailer bed for your purpose? The metal is thicker and it will match up to the axle position on the M880. Might be easier to find than a rust-free original bed.
