M8109 progress - onboard diesel generator cover

Looks good, but you can pretty much rule out offroading now as a hobby. Any large bump or rock you go over will take out the genset box....

    Value of a M246 5 Ton

Is it just me, or am I the only guy on SS who finds the recent rash of "I have this how much is it worth" threads a bit annoying? When did SS turn into a Consumer Reports listing of MV values? highfavor1004, from what you said, you traded for it, it's yours. Enjoy it. Doesn't matter what...

    WOW, brush truck 45

There's a term for that truck. It's three letters long, begins with "G" and rhymes with "May".

    Left fender replacement..

Two options not mentioned: If you can't get another helper, get a set of needle-nose ViseGrips, get it locked onto the nut on the back side, and have at the front. Option two: get a dremel with a cutoff disc and cut off the bolt head from the front. The rest should just fall off the back side.

    Who am I?

I hope he sells his share of SS to patracy and goes off into the sunset to a land of goats and sheep where he can exist in happiness forever. As long as he is NO LONGER HERE doing nothing. My two cents. Thanks for picking up the slack, patracy. Get the site back on track, make...

    M880 rear axle selection

I've already come to that conclusion about the body, bob, we've discussed that before in a different thread. What I was interested in knowing is to get the most bulletproof components, even if I start with an early 90s platform, I might have to swap out major components such as the axles...

    New Steel Soldiers Admin/Webmaster!

gimpy and I are the two most senior SS members who really don't wanna be involved with admin or moderation. We'd love to help out, but I don't have the temperment for the task, and I think gimpy feels the same for himself. Glad we have someone new though - this site really needs to move...

    New Steel Soldiers Admin/Webmaster!

Bout time. You know how hard it's been trying to convince doghead NOT to go over to mangus's house and beat him with a rusty snow cone machine?

    M880 rear axle selection

I've heard the Dana 60s used on the M715 series of trucks front axles are not as good as other Dana 60s used in other commercial trucks. Can someone care to elaborate on why?

    Saw a FLYING HMMWV today......

A flying HMMWV is much better than a falling HMMWV. :)

    M880 rear axle selection

M880 axle selection Planning on future builds, getting my mental ducks in a row (hard to do, since most of those ducks are suffering massive hangovers at any one time). Plan to build a quasi-M880 truck, on a more modern frame. Engine would be a 6BT Cummins. The stocks axles on the M880...

    Value of a m37 ?

I have seen good ones that were decent drivers and no rust, good paint, sell for $5K. Perfectly restored ones for $10-12K. Highest I have ever seen was a museum quality example sold for $26,000. Prices are what you are willing to pay, especially in this economy.

May be buying this '84 1009...but....

All CUCVs have rust. Be glad you're not buying M880s. They don't have rust, they come with Swiss cheese.

    Gov Liq Generator Working Ratio

I bought a laundry trailer with an MEP-003a on it, between the time the pics were posted on GL and the time I picked it up, a number of parts were removed from it. I got the replacement parts from Coleman's off some junkers in the back lot, I built it up, and it worked fine.
