Yeah, $1500 per axle is for the Jeep buggy crowd, they have all the cash. But it's about what I figured.
Is there an aftermarket source for different gear ratios for the Rockwell axles? I went to Boyce Equipment's website and they only sell with standard gear ratios, I thought it anyone had different ratios they would.
Could always cut the affected area out in a square shape around the crack, and weld in new metal. Might be a bit overkill, but you'll never have to worry about the crack repair getting worse...
The paint match was a nice coincidence - it was what came out of the spray can from MalWart. But you're right, it does look close, doesn't it?

Oh, I have very little patience, and less as I get older. But I can do a little, walk away and do something else, come back when I feel like it. So, it gets done slowly, but yes, I am a perfectionist sometimes.

It's a very neat idea, and well executed, but I'm with the last two guys, getting a pintle hitch for the truck side is easier. However, if you just wanted to build something different and new, you succeeded!
You could also hire someone to watch your MVs as a security guy. You know, someone who is out of work, or could use some spare cash or beers. You know, someone into MVs that cares about them, someone good at...ahem...taking care of problems and who is...uh...really good at dealing with people...
