I used all combinations:
1. a one piece strap wrapped through the bracket and under it, bolted in place
2. a two piece strap, each end attached to the bracket
3. a one piece strap, double looped through the bracket holes but NOT underneath the bracket
I like option 3 better, since no rivets...
How many of the WWII and post war high speed tractors are still around in driving condition? I have seen a few M2 Cletracs, and a bunch of the 13-ton M5 HSTs, but I don't ever recall seeing ANY of the 18-ton M4s, 38-ton M6s, the Hellcat-based M39 tractors, or the M8A1/M8E2 series tractors in...
That's a helluva piece of equipment to save there VT. But it would be awesome to try and find out who owns it and if they were in the market to sell. I'm sure someone here needs a big time project like that....
Filter it through an old t-shirt to make sure no crap goes in the tank, and then run it and smile. The deuce can burn dam near anything, though cutting it with diesel will help if it's pretty bad.
I've shot so many MGs in my life that watching others shoot theirs is pretty boring, plus it gets crowded by the line when they open up. I go for the awesome gun show there, which clears out when the line is hot.
However, if you haven't shot hundreds of thousands of rounds in MGs before, by...
They get out surplus, but infrequently, since most of them go through a rebuild program with Oshkosh Defense. Maybe a couple a year at best now. A bunch came out in the 1990s, before the reset program started, and before the recent series of wars. They are still rare as hen's teeth.
Get in an accident in that thing, even a minor accident, and you'll be pulling high-tech outta your chest, skull, and asscrack in the hospital for a week. No thanks, your USAR crew is leaving too much to technology and not enough to fighting skills. I don't see so much as a single rifle rack...
There's one on eGay right now, looks like same model, but I could be wrong. Can't post the link, against the SS rules, but if anyone wants to get a rarity, it might be worth you checking into it....
No way it will get done by then, Scott - have too much bodywork to do on it before paint, then stencils, etc. At this rate I'll be lucky if it makes Aberdeen.
You know what I always wondered about the Blazers - both the military and the civvy ones : what is going on with the busted rear windows on them? Almost every one I have seen in person either had a missing rear window, or it wouldn't roll up/down. I have a hard time believing that out of all...
Well, it's almost Spring, the freezing weather is over and the tarp got taken off the truck today. Will have to get my ass in gear if it's to be done before Aberdeen. PLUS - I decided the rotten rear floor is going to need replacement, the armor is sinking through a couple spots where the...
Pretty interesting. There aren't many WW1 things left around, thanks for sharing the pics!
It's hard to imagine the schemes and bad ideas that folks had early in the days of machineguns when we were coming up with all sorts of bad ideas, well at the time they seemed pretty good. Remember the...
