    Haspin quotes

"so I went out on the lawn in my underwear, briefs, to talk to this guy driving around my front yard at 1:00 in the morning...." - doghead

    Russian truck task

Big Russki trucks are COOL! That's a pretty neat transformation from before to after. Got any more detailed pics of her in her current state?

    2008 Haspin Rally Pics!

I had a great time. Sorry I had to leave so early Sunday morning, 10-11 hour trip back to Virginia and all. Thanks to those who showed up, and especially the guys right in the area for helping to put together this rally. Next time I plan on driving the deuce - I would have this time, but...

    Tie Downs

Depends how you want them on there. We have seen the tiedowns welded on, riveted on, and bolted on. I'd prefer welded, it's stronger.

    Deuce off road shortcomings

If you are real serious about offroading a deuce, and often, I would also look into the addition of air-o-matic steering. The manual steering works fine, but sometimes the truck will want to stay in a rut in manual steering no matter how hard you try to turn the wheel, when what you WANT to do...

    THE ORIG. TRACTOR, WRECKER

RE: Re: RE: Diamond T 981 That's a big mother right there. Huge boom on that. Those old cable-operated wreckers took a special breed of person to operate them, the modern hydraulic driven units are a breeze compared to the old cable units.

    gear oil

75W is not 80W, technically, but it's close enough. Gear oil is pretty interchangable no matter what the application is. I've been using some old stuff I got for free from the 1970s, it still looks greasy enough and I don't think the deuces care that much about age and viscosity of the gear lube.

    New Pictures

Man, look at the seats in that thing - looks like Recaro racing seats up front and 4 wide in the back? A true military SUV! Nice ride!

I am towing my M38C jeep out there. The deuce would've broken my current bank, so to speak, in fuel costs. Guess I'm going to have to speak with Stretch about how he processes his used motor oil while I'm out there! Be leaving in a few hours, see everyone there!

My plans have changed slightly, due to the fact that I needed some sleep and couldn't do an all-nighter like I used to. I will be leaving between 2-3pm this afternoon, arriving Thursday morning around 6-7am. This will include at least one or two stops at rest areas to get some sleep en route.

Please do. The next 24 hours for me are going to be hell, packing the last minute stuff, getting laundry done, getting my food/drinks/smokes ready, etc, not to mention the 10 hour ride out there. But I am psyched to go! Is anyone planning on being a convoy/trip coordinator for this event...

    Anyone recognize this trailer?

If you are into woodworking or metalworking, YOU NEED THAT TRAILER! Get the info on how much the salvage yard wants for it, and post it here. I'm sure someone here would like to buy it if the price is right!

    windshield frames

Inner windshields or outer? Both are available used from many sources, including other Steel Soldiers. I have seen new inner windshields, but they run $150 ea.

    M762 trailer

How common are the M762 trailers, the ones rated as 1/2-ton or 3/4-ton, but are basically the same size as the M416 trailer. Looks like a -416 with a flatbed. I have only seen a couple of these, and they are never for sale. Are they all still in service, like the M1101/1102 series?

Wow, looks like warm, but not hot, and pretty nice conditions! Excellent! Thanks for the info on getting inside the place, I am hoping to leave No. VA no later than 10am on Wednesday, that would put me in Haspin around 8pm or so. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Pictures of My new M725 Kaiser Jeep Ambulance

Ahhh...memories of when I had my -725 Gumby in my livery. Looks very complete and original. Keep it that way! Sure, the motor is always underpowered, but if it works, keep it original. I see the rear litters are in place, those are hard to come by....

Any ideas when the gates close there? I don't want to arrive 30 minutes after closing and I'm stuck in Small Town Indiana for the night without a hotel room.

    GL hassle

RE: The Demilitarization Program I challenged the demil code on steel pot helmets a few years back. Good Lord, they have been selling them surplus since 1945, kids used to play with them in the woods, acting out GI Joe episodes and such.

June 14 is Flag Day. Let's see your FLAGS!

That IS a 3x5 foot flag. You have any idea how big that truck is? ;)
