I know the feeling - there is a reason I am doing this one piece-meal... I watched a nice LVT-4 wander by for sale that I woulda loved to take home but 35K was way out of my budget and the logistics of a chunk like that are beyond me at the moment....
Some day...
After the Cletracs and a...
I bought the whole truck from him (well Jerry, actually) - just been building it slowly over the last year and a half - out of town too much but it's been going faster recently...
I dunno what he'd sell a bed for - I can ask him about trucks - likely in the 9-10k range - depends how much work...
Up she goes...
Well I had a pretty grim night friday evening after trying to spin the Duece and trailer in my driveway - decided to try and drive around to the second driveway - it didn't work so well in the pouring rain and she ended up stuffed into a creekbed up to the front axle - now I...
The wheel is the M-series 5-ton Combat rim with the 5/8" studs, 20 stud rims... They use a 3/8" cross section o-ring to seal the rim and make them a tubeless wheel; the bolt pattern is a 10 lug Budd pattern...
The tires are michelin XZL 16.00r20 with the mil spec square bead shoulders made for...
I'm not sure what you've come up with so far but a friend of mine runs Michelin XML 11.00r20's up front and as duals in the rear on his M816... I believe he has them on the standard rims with tubes inside...
Doesn't get a ton of highway use but it's a thought...

Thanks - the flaps were from Six Robblee's - which is a west coast trailer equipment supplier... Might be able to get the manufacturer from them or have a pair shipped - I think they were like 8 bucks each! Cost more to ship than buy...
You're welcome to this pair once I get the bed on as it...
You guys are hung up on the piston cooling... there is one reason: air
You add more fuel via the larger injection pump and increase the timing advance; making said fuel burn closer to TDC - this makes the power go up - also makes the heat go up...
To combat the heat you add more air so the...
I would grudgingly admit that it is a very very close relative to what we normally call a Diesel - but just as a 2 stroke marine engine does not use the Diesel Cycle (it uses an Otto Cycle) although most people call them diesels - the hypercycle is different mainly because of the high...
We have a winner - the reason for the added power of the LDS comes from two things: Increased air flow / pressure and the advancement of the COD point (commencement of delivery)
When you guys are debating this engine you have to remember one thing - IT IS NOT A DIESEL.
The MAN design which...
Well 7 hours of working in the rain was about as much fun as getting your stomach pumped... But it needs to get done...
I managed to get all the hydraulics reconnected and the cab bolted up... Fastened all the clips for the new hose blocks I made and pulled the 2nd hydraulic "fuse" out of the...
Unless it's mine... Try that trick and you get 5th gear...
The data plate won't help either as I swapped in a direct drive for the tires...
I may have a connector that came off a CUCV which just had small gage wires and a weatherpack on it - I'll dig around tonight...
Matt
Well then... here you go...
Just got these two and am working on collecting up the stuff to make them go...
Need to get a hold of another carb at some point... and both are missing the parts I mentioned above...
Enjoy...

Also FINALLY got some time to get some paint on the side of the crane so I could re-hang the new operators booth (the OEM one was kinda crunched with a big old forklift mark across the front edge...)
It's a bit of a pain to get all the hose routed properly; the main return line and pressure...
More stuff... All the hose blocks on the bed were more or less toast...
I searched around for some white oak to make new ones out of but came up pretty dry or it was $$$ - so I used some black ABS I had scraps of...
Put the bridgeport to work and made new ones that sould last.... well...
I can grab one or two from here if you like - this coming week I'll look through the rigging locker and see what is around....
Medic - those are just medium pistons - 17" - even still I fit down the liner bore and can stand in the crankcase
Try some big boys - 800mm and 900mm - the head...
I am happy to give you guys as much rigging assistance as you like - deal with this kinda stuff all day...
Big heavy parts, stuffed into tiny little spaces, and no damage... That turbo in the picture is about $320,000... The rods; well those are kinda priceless as they are out of production...
Heya Guys - just to join the fray I just picked up two of these I am restoring and would love to toss around ideas for either parts sharing or making copies of some of the brackets and little bits that are always missing...
Of course both of mine are missing the genset, air compressor, and...
