Thought I would update my status here. Made it to San Antonio, TX from Las Vegas, NV ok. I now reside on Fort Sam Houston and work on base. If anyone needs help, a tow, etc. I am in the areas for the next few years. I have an M109 and a medium towbar.
Well, time to continue this thread.
Got the back cleared out of all the household goods from the move. Moved in a work bench and some storage chests for part and tool storage. Took the AC unit off the truck this morning and put some 1" plywood in its place until I can get the AC fixed. It...
Ok, we made it into San Antonio, TX late yesterday afternoon. Ended up getting 7.5 miles per gallon (even with a Class III fuel leak that I could not get to stop). I have never had to shift into a lower gar on the fly, but some of the hills in AZ, and NM slowed me down to around 20 MPH...
Ok, got a real late start today. Left Las Vegas around 530p. After about 3 hours we had gone 100 miles and made it to Kingman, AZ. Hills are not a loaded M35s friend, was down to 15 MPH quite a few times. No mechanical issues. Hoping to make it to Albuqurque, NM tomorrow.
Here is an updated map with the distance we want to travel everyday.
July 13th- Las Vegas, NV to Gallup, NM
July 14th- Gallup, NM to Carlsbad, NM
July 15th- Carlsbad, NM to San Antonio, TX
430 miles each day, 9.5 hours of driving (at least claose to those numbers)

Another update. Got the engine back together (and it even runs). Got my nice newish M105 loaded with 19 9.00x20 tires (gotta have a couple spares) a couple M35 bumpers and a 55 gallon plastic barrel. Thats enough for today. so this weekend I will finish loading the truck and get them weighed.
Wow, looks great Warren. I am not at all worried about the mirror. I know that it is 10 times stronger now than before so I think I got the better end of the deal. And the work you did on the roof, especially in that heat, is amazing. Thanks, for all your hard work, and have a great 4th of July.
I would rather have them go to a local PD or FD than get cut up. And maybe even save some taxpayer money in the process by them not having to buy a new vehicle for the same uses. And militarizing a PD? Wow. I don't think that is the intention of the program.
I also don't see a problem with...
OK, finally got the cover, pan and most of the engine back together. Still have a few things left to do. A piece of advice, don't remount the oil pan by yourself, that is a horrible job by yourself for the first few bolts. Today have to replace the valve cover gaskets, flush the radiator and...
Ok, got the pan off the truck. Got the gasket surfaces as clean as I could without scraping the metal off. Tonight I will get the old gasket and clean off the surface where the oil pan connects to the engine. Hopefully I can get the pan mounted tonight as well. I plan on using a thin coat of...
