Dropped my Blazer off nine days ago at Oregon Fuel Injection. Picked it up yesterday. I had the OEM IP rebuilt. They found related timing for issues. Just over $1600. Runs great. Thanks for all the hard input. With all the clatter I was sure it was rod knock. Hoping I’ll have smooth sailing for...
I decided to drive over to Oregon Fuel Injection to have them verify failing IP. I have an appointment for Wednesday.- The drive is one hour from my home. The service desk guy said he DID NOT have the DB2 829-4521 pump on the shelf. He did say the alternate part in the book is DB2 829-4502 (he...
Drock, I am thinking I can find the same result if I disconnect the supply line to the fuel filter, and replace it with a line from a fresh can of diesel. I'll do a filter swap so only fresh gas is supplied to the IP. Good idea, thanks. I'm off to get a new fuel filter.
OK, I will. I asked because I just installed a new Holley fuel pressure regulator on my wife's Mercury 2v Cleveland. The pressure called for was 3lbs. Having spent so much time under the hood of my blazer, I thought 9 lbs was either too high, or the 3lbs was too low. Injectors vs carbs I guess.
What should the fuel pressure going in to the Injection Pump be at?
MY spin-on fuel filter has a gauge on it that is reading 9 lbs at idle- Is this right, or will it cause problems?
So, to update; I am reporting that the knocking has returned. I did not get thru more than half a tank since the knocking went away- now it's back.
I checked the flexplate- no cracks; the bolts to the torque converter are solid. I replaced the oil and filter; the fuel filter. No improvement. It...
Things are better. After reading several posts from other diesel owners on remedies for the loud, smoky off idle condition, I decided to try adding ATF to the fuel. I wasn't all that certain that it could help as I just completed a diesel purge with lubro moly, so I expected that all injector...
I have another thread regarding poor engine performance, but I am not sure this question has anything to do with that thread, so I am asking in a new thread that maybe easier to find... if you are wondering about spin-on filter maintenance.
This is what I have- there is no provision- at least...
Dependable, new glow plugs 3 months ago as a matter of maintenance. New fuel filter last month. Never used ether or other sprays. I was leaning towards rod knock, but want to DIY as much as I can before outsourcing the bottom end work. I have heard of bad fuel as a source of the knocking. If the...
Yes, the idle circuit does return to a slow idle, it's the noise level that does not seem to come down. Today I switched in 8 NEW fuel injectors. I also shortened the lines and inspected all line clamps. No leaks, started right up. But the noisy rattle persisted- just as loud. I put the...
WHAT! That's CRAZY. This is my first diesel, and I have yet to experience injector failure by that bit of info. Is there a way to check and see which one(s) is to blame?
I'll have to look where I bought the injectors from exactly. But I went to a place recommended on this forum. They were installed 3 months ago. How many have to go bad before they make all that racket?
I changed the glow plugs, the injectors, oil and tranx oil/filters. The radiator does not leak, the fuel filter (OEM) was replaced with the F100M round filter system and gauge. The 300 to the destination went off w/out a hitch. The return trip started feeling tinny, and weak the last 100 miles...
The heater core was one of the first projects I got on when I bought my M1009. I posted a few thoughts in an earlier post. The folks on this forum advised to have the OEM heater Core rebuilt by a qualified tech. I needed heat, so I bought an aluminum replacement at NAPA. It came packed in a nice...
Just installed a new underhood liner/insulation pad. I got it from Eckler's P/N 332505- under $50 shipped. Of all the liners I have used over the years, this one was perfect all around. Came with new pins. Came pre-drilled to match all holes. I have not driven it around yet, but will. If I am...
dom1986ck30, I'd agree with all recommendations. I had a slow starting M1009. Slow to start, slow to warm, slow to find gears until warmed-up. I changed the starter- found the PO had been using a 12 volt starter, no bracket. I installed new fuel injector lines and glow-plugs, but still had slow...
