Glad you got the clamps!
Speaking of sound.....my brother said mine sounded a LOT like my old whistler deuce used to.
Glad to hear that! :)
I didn't want something obnoxious and OH how I loved the sound of that whistler.
Mine were in fine shape so I reused them.
But as I during my build process, the clamps looked like very "standard issue" 4" exhaust clamps that I'd THINK you could pick up locally, if not from mail order for sure.
Here's an example: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wlk-35752/overview/
If memory serves me right, back when I got the HEI for the 232 it was sold under the brand Proform at somewhere like Summit Racing.
But by now? It may be available in the cheap version. I haven't looked.
As for the original poster, definitely consider the Pertronix if it's available.
Can't...
Hi Pete,
I really don't know how many miles.
It's been on the 302 in my rat rod for going on two years and it's been a no-brainer, turn-key operation.
The 232 has had it for several years.
My brother actually drives it and it starts first time, every time.
I'd have to look into the exact seller...
If you're going 12V anyway......is a Pertronix Ignitor module available for your original distributor?
I've used them many many times in the past and never had a problem.
Mate it with a quality coil (Pertronix has them, too) and it'll be a set it and forget it affair. :)
I LOVE HEI's, don't...
Replace the sender.
My truck was doing the same thing my Jeep Wrangler 4.0's failing oil pressure sender did-low oil pressure hot idle but okay when the RPM's came up.
I picked up one from Erik's and installed it yesterday.
Fixed.
Instead of 10-15psi at idle, it is now around 40!
And when the...
I can't wait to hear your impressions after you straight pipe it.
It really woke up my truck and I haven't even done any fuel adjustment or gov. springs yet!
Looking at another post by 74M35A2 on another thread, he may be building an eighth-mile drag racing capable 5 ton! :driver:
Open that cutout and leave anyone in the lane next to you in a smoke screen! 8-)

Update:
I talked to a few folks in town over the past two days that I drove past or stopped in to visit while I had the truck out the other day for it's stack "maiden voyage" about how loud the truck is and their opinions. None of them had anything bad to say.
The reason I contacted them is...
That is THE most horrific memory of my truck's maintenance.....when I changed the fuel filters, it wouldn't start, lost prime.
After wrestling with it for about 6 hours, trying every trick under the book, I put my tools down (before I threw each and every one of them.....) and walked away.
I...
I just sent you a PM with a link to a single axle'd example (what I plan to do to my truck).
I'm assuming you meant not cutting the frame?
From what I measured, the M105 bed fits perfectly, length-wise, from about 2" back from the tire rack to the rear edge of the frame.
I had the tubing available, mig welder ready to go and a free Sunday afternoon.
So dropping $320+ ($265 plus shipping) would have been foolish.....FOR ME.
BUT......for those who do not have all of that at their disposal? i.e. tubing, some bends (NOT "cheap"), possibly paying someone to weld and...
I think I left enough straight in my design to splice in a straight-through, small bodied muffler if need be.
On my old deuce, I used a Donaldson industrial muffler.
