Well...the tranny went last night in my M1009

Sweet! Im pretty sure you are in good hands now. The guy I messaged this morning got back to me and told me that a TH400 re-build at the shops out here will usually cost between $900 to $1400 and that a crate trans for about the same price is a pretty good option as well. Im guessing that ammco...

Well...the tranny went last night in my M1009

Hey JPDC I just messaged a buddy of mine that is tied into a bunch of the race and car custom shops up on euclid ave. in Manassas to see where they say to go to get trans work done. He also knows a member of this site that has a pretty big shop in chantilly that works on mv's. When he gets back...

Well...the tranny went last night in my M1009

$2200 for a TH400 rebuild is the most outrageous thing i've ever heard. Reckon some people are completely shameless lol. I lust jumped over to http://www.eatmyshift.com/ aka monster transmission and their maximum speced race TH400 rated for 950 hp only costs $1495 which after shipping and taxes...

    Help please - Fuel line replacment - 86 - 6.2- M1009 - Losing prime

Im sure other people will chime in if indeed it is your fuel filter base. I've noticed that some people on here will figure out which part of the base is leaking and attempt to fix it with hardware store parts and others will get a replacement filter base off of ebay or from the chevy dealer if...

    Help please - Fuel line replacment - 86 - 6.2- M1009 - Losing prime

Ditto on what Westech said. I'd try a small swivel head ratchet with either a screwdriver attachment or small socket for the clamp and a wrench with a swivel head for the line nut. If that fails then you could try cutting the hose clamp off with something like a pair of wire cutters at least. It...

    6.2 diesel power

If you are thinking about getting away from the 6.2L diesel engine then you might be interested in something like the GM HT383 crate motor. It is a VERY strong small block engine that is meant to be used as a truck motor with excellent torque. It puts out 340 hp. at 4500 rpm. and 435 ft. lbs or...

    6.2 diesel power

Here's a walk through on how to do it.

    6.2 diesel power

The only real way to get a little bit more power out of the 6.2L diesel's is to turn up the fuel delivery screw inside the injection pump 1/8th of a turn. It is free and will wake the motor up a little bit. Adding higher flow mufflers is also a good idea with the fuel turned up. I also added an...

    Rim and tire set up

Figured since you asked what kinda tires we run on our trucks id put up a couple pics of what I have on my civi truck. These are Denman Groundhawg 2's. They are directional terra tread tires like you would expect to see on machinery like back hoes or bobcats. Even though they look very...

    Rim and tire set up

If you really like the wider tires you certianly can use those if you want. The M1008/1028's are 1-ton trucks with 1 ton running gear. If you have a fresh power steering pump and your steering wheel doesn't have any slop in it then the rest should fine. If you have a braced steering box with...

    civi IP vs mil IP

This is a question that has crossed my mind before but I never thought to ask. Would a new civi pump be less prone to damage from ULSD fuel?

    Haven't posted lately

Just jumped on my favorite gear ratio calculator site. according to it 4.56 gears + 40" tires + .75 OD. =1876 RPM at 65 MPH. All that would seem to equal awesome vehicle to daily drive or even go on a road trip up the interstate with.

mechanical fuel cut off on m1009

I knew somebody that had an old diesel Mercedes and the battery stopped charging while him and his girlfriend were on a road trip through Colorado. This was back in the early 90's before everybody had a cell phone. Anyhow they were out in BFE and this old car still ran for a good 40-50 miles...

    low heat

Did you put a replacement heater core in it? If so that is likely why the air comming out of the vents is only luke warm. When I replaced my heater core with the one that the auto parts store gave me it did the same thing. If you still have the original one you will probly have better luck if...

    Haven't posted lately

Did you put up a video of your truck pulling at a fair a while back? Anyhow are you useing the stock 4.56 gears in it and did you move your front axle forward a hare?

Black Ice Driving - Atlanta area

Air down your tires to about 20-22 psi and put the truck in 4WH. Drive slow and make sure you have ALOT of space between you and the next car in front of you so that you have tons of room to get stopped. Never underestimate the black ice.

    low heat

When you say that it produces very little heat do you mean the engine doesn't warm up and run right or does the heater just not blow hot air?

    M1009 lift job

If your info didn't say that you are from england I would have guessed you were from Florida based on that red truck. That's almost big enough to be in trucks gone wild ( a serries of videos of massive trucks that are almost completely unique to south Florida). Anyhow im guessing that you must...
