I want to do this with my gauges...

Im guessing you would have to eliminate the circut board that the stock gauges are pluged into in order to do that. I notice that you live in WY. so you I guess no one out there would care what you did to your dash since the vehicle code only specifies that a vehicle be in good working order...

    Lift/tires M1031.

You shouldn't have to cut anything out of the back of your M1031. It would be close but you might be able to fit 37's under the back with no lift at all or cutting. The front fenders are a way different story though. Also a 1031 has tons more room in the back for bigger tires than an M1010 does.

How noisy is your 6.2 lit. M1009

The sound deadener piece that is on the civi 6.2/6.5L trucks is called a resonator. I got mine along with the rest of the air intake system off of another truck at a junk yard. I don't know if there are places where you can order them anymore or not. Back when I was looking for one I did alot of...

    Have a quick question.

:ditto: The kingpin dana 60 front axles in the M1008/1028s are definately preferable to the dana44's in the M880's. The advantage to the 880's would be that you can rebuild the gas motor with a big cam high rise manifold 4bbl carb headers and crank out a decent amount of power even on a budget...

How noisy is your 6.2 lit. M1009

I put a 6.5L air cleaner assembly with a resonator on mine and that made a noticable difference in the noise that comes out of the top of the motor. Now I can hear my loud pipes alot better lol. When I had the SECM body on it the motor made every loose part on that thing vibrate in sympathy with...

    tow bar cucv to cucv

I towed a ford bronco about 30 miles down the highway with my old 77 Chevy blazer one time. That was enough to convince me that towing a vehicle of equal size and weight above 30 mph with a tow bar isin't a good idea. As far as these mil trucks go I wouldn't tow a M1009 hooked to a towbar with...

    14 bolt readend question

$100 is a good price for a 14 bolt ff rear. It likely doesn't have a locker in it. The big question would be is it out of a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton? If it's out of a 3/4 ton pick up or suburban then the spring perches will match your M1009 and you can bolt it right in without having to cut the old...

    Trouble with pintle removal.

Gotta laugh having to put more pressure on a hitch than it was rated to hold in the first place with a hydraulic press just to get it to break free without the big nut on itrofl

What is the best modification you have done to your CUCV?

So far I'd have to say converting to a spin on fuel filter, adding two more 55 watt driving lights to the front bumper since the stock chevy lights are pretty dim compared to modern vehicles and probly the best mod would have to be the flat bed body I built to replace the SECM body. Backing up...

    Springs and lift question.

Yes you would use the 52" rear springs for the front with a B-52 kit. What I should have been more clear about is the amount of lift that will give you in the front even with the stock rear springs. You are probly looking at at least 4.5" to maby even 6" of lift from that And the shackle flip is...

    Springs and lift question.

If you are going to use 52" springs in the front they will probly wind up being rear springs and will have alot of arch compared to normal front springs even non lift rear 52's will be that way. If you look under your truck at the stock front springs and then the stock rear springs you will...

    New guy

WOW that's quite an M1009!!! Are those traction bars under the rear end? Also I cant really tell from the pic but did you cut the bed out and put something elese in there and do you plan to add more to the B-pillar cage or tie race seats and harnesses into it? Gotta say that truck looks pretty...

    It's just like your Blazer

You shoulda demanded they give you a Cadillac Escalade. Or maby a sweet Corvette :-P

    Can someone identify this?

LOL all I can really tell you about that pin is that it's not supposed to be roaming around in the oil pan. Hopefully it is just a forign object and didn't come from some part in the motor. I guess all you can really do is just keep running it and see if any part of the motor starts screwing up...

    push or pull the fuel

Most fuel pumps are designed to push fuel and probly work better that way. I wound up having to make the lift pump on my truck pull fuel through the filter since I am useing a racor spin on. I was originally going to hook it up to push the fuel but the teck-line guy at racor said that if I did...

Pass side alt must not be too important...

Eventually you will have to hook your batteries to a charger. Doing that will cause your back battery to go stone dead and by the time your front battery drops to half a charge the truck will not start. If your just driving to work and back it will last a while like that but probly not more than...

    Waterproofing question (M1009)

If your wanting to get into watter thats above the hood of your truck then the best place to ask these questions would probly be on something like a swamp buggy racing forum. I read a magazine article about swamp buggy racing a while back that talked about some of the tricks that they use to run...

    RED diesel fuel?

I've never put alot of thought into making my own bio diesel since bringing home hundreds of gallons of rotting grease would stink up my whole neighborhood but anyhow do you have to get a permit or anything to run waste oil in your truck since you would be driving up the street on something that...

    RED diesel fuel?

Things like that are why I never tried to filter and run used trans fluid in my truck since it is also red.
