I am running 34x10.50-16" super swamper LTB's on my M1028 with no lift or fender trimming. They work well and do not rub when the wheels are turned all the way. Even when driving off road. They do pretty good in deep snow but not so good on ice. Also I don't think you could go any bigger than...
I like the front bumper on that chevy deuce. Looks like metal floor grating complete with hand rails. If I ran across that thing out here I'd probly make him an offer. If it had 6 giant tires instead of dual rears I'd probly make him an offer and wind up trading at least half my worldly...
That thing looks fierce. I noticed you have alot of running lights on there. How strong are they? Are they 55w or did you use full on 100w or so off road type lights?
Oops my mistake  I just looked that up and yep it says that the truck from the NBC serries Sanford and Son was a 1951 Ford. That was one of the funniest shows of all time:-)
!!!! Thats awesome!!! Fred Sanford's truck was a 53 or 54 Ford. I always wondered why he complained about it all the time. I thought it was a neet little truck. Im not much of a Ford guy but I would totally drive that.[thumbzup]
Check your fuses as well. The gen 2 light, volt meter, and cigarette lighter plug are all fused together. I had that fuse blow and it caused the back battery to lose power over the course of a couple days and eventually not start. If you have a blown fuse then you can use that to start tracking...
I decided to use a set of tractor lights I got from the home depot for back up utility lights since they are inexpensive and really bright. I got the metal boxes that surround them from a place called American truck and trailer which is in Manassas for anyone in northern va. that is reading...
LOL there is a little bit less weight back there now. When I started taking the SECM body off I was shocked at how much that thing weighed. It weighed at least twice as much as I thought it would. I can certianly see why the truck has such big spring packs in the rear since it is supposed to...
Nah I didn't scrap or trade the contact body. Me and my father are useing it for a fuel shed to keep gas, diesel, and propane out away from the house. Also if I put a hydraulic ram on it I would have to take the back up lights off but I built it to where the hydraulic ram kit is still an option if...
Monster Transmission & Performance | 800-708-0087 | Fast FREE Shipping! AKA monster transmission. You can get a rebuild kit from them or a whole trans. They have several levels of kits and transmissions from mild to race ready for pretty good prices.
Wow It's got an even bigger front bumper on it than my truck lol. I saw one of those a while back online that was for sale. If I remember right they didn't want a whole lot of money for it either. This one was orange and I think it was a civi version. Somehow I don't think they would want to...
That's a pretty good Idea. I was thinking about putting a toolbox on the passenger side under the bed. If I had a toolbox on one side i'm pretty sure I could fab up a skirt for the fuel tank side and get them to match.
Thanks for all the compliments everyone. Like I said when I saw mtjbrowns M1031 that he converted to a flatbed it made me really think serously about doing that myself so of course like everything elese these days I turned to youtube for some quick tutorials on how to build something like that...
Well this has been a long time project i"ve been working on but im finally done. I've mentioned it a couple times on here and put up a couple pics of my progress in a similar thread so finally here is my completed M1028 SECM body truck converted to a flatbed. I've seen a couple threads about...
If you can get a 6.5L turbo for about half the price that runs good I know which one I would go for. I've been useing my M1028 to haul alot of things since I converted it to a flatbed lately and once you get about 3000lb or so on the truck and trailer it starts bogging down a little when I drive...
It might be a good idea to call the manufacturers teck line of which ever brands of springs that you are considering and ask if they are made from chinese steel. I've heard people say chinese steel is so bad that you cant even get welds to bond to it half the time because it's full of lead and...
I just pulled a friend of mine's Ford loose yesterday with my M1028. It was stuck really bad like that pic. The pulling it out part wasn't real bad. Just a few good swift yanks eventually did it but the digging out around it was pretty bad though. It was stuck in some really nasty smelling mud...
Does that truck have blackout lights, 4.56 gears, detroit locker, and slave cable ect. like the cucv's? I noticed it has a stereo in it. I've been debating wether to put the stereo out of my other truck into my 1028.
