One thing to think about before you do something like that is your states bumper hight laws. If you put a cucv cab on a deuce frame they will consider it a 1-ton truck because they usually go by what the cab says. Out here in VA. where I live the law says 32" on a 1-ton truck. Alot of states are...
That is what mine was. 2 1/2" from the exhaust manifolds to the mufflers and 2 1/4" the rest of the way back. I put a set of 2 1/2" dynomax straight throughs on mine with 2 1/2" pipes all the way back. Gotta say that pluming the pipe on the pass side was a real pain because of the e-brake...
For out here where I live at that is a smokin deal!!! In order to get a deal on a rebuild like that out here I would have to take the trans out myself and take it to the shops and then put it back in myself. They call that a bench re-build. A few of my friends work at the hotrod shops out here...
This link will help you with that. It is an easy to use gear ratio calculator. gear ratio calculator 3.73 gears will effect your top speed a little bit but they will also make the truck accelerate faster. I'd say 3.73.1 gears give a pretty good trade off in an M1009.
Keep in mind that the ford dana 60 front axle has the diff on the drivers side and can't be made to work with a chevy transfer case. the dodge front dana 60 will work but they say that the front springs don't line up perfectly and have to be forced inward to hit the spring pearches on the dodge...
I don't know much about storm chaseing but I do know that cucv's aren't exactly fast vehicles. If I was looking into getting sorta close to tornadoes I would think something faster like maby a truck set up for desert racing would be a better choice since those things will run in the roughest...
Im guessing you ground off the spring pearches on the rear axle and welded replacement pearches on in the correct locations. I was wondering how hard of a time did you have getting everything in the rear centered up and ready to weld in and how did you go about doing it?
Lately I've been having a strange thing happen when I start my M1028. When I start my truck the GEN 1 light goes out right away and the GEN 2 light goes out when I goose the motor a little but the volt meter still reads in the yellow after both GEN lights go out. I have to rev the motor a little...
It might be possible to hack the flanges off of a set of H1 headers about a half inch or so down the pipes and do the same to another set of larger tube gas motor headers. Then bend the gas motor header pipes untill they fit over the half inch or so of stick out on the H1 pipes and weld them to...
I did the relay mod to make my truck more reliable since my truck is pretty close to a daily driver and I hate burned up parts and calling tow trucks. Gotta say I loved it when I bought the relay and airfilter for my truck and the NAPA guy asked me if I was working on a boat or something.
All I can tell you about how much a SECM body weighs is that when I went to take mine off I had it guessed at about 500 LBs. Once I started ACTUALLY taking it off I quickly realized that I really under estimated the weight of it. 860 LB's sounds alot more like it. Heck I'm surprised it doesn't...
That's some pretty serious lighting power. I like the speaker mounted on the bumper. I've been meaning to get an intercom for my truck for a good while. Is that a CB radio or just an intercom system?
I noticed that the LMC catolog doesn't say how much the 36-0282 lights cost. Do you remember how much they were? I would love to upgrade to something like that. Also do they come with H4 bulbs or are they something that you have to buy seperately?
Are you planning to drop one of those motors into your cucv? Under those circumstances the cucv forum would be the right place for this thread. If so I'd be interested in hearing more.
Im useing a set of 55 watt driving lights in the front that I got from one of the auto parts stores. Can't remember what brand they are but they were cheap. Like $20.00 or something. They are DOT. approved so I can run them all the time. The ones in the back are a set of tractor lights that I...
I looked into putting a body lift on my truck a while back and noticed that the manufactures say that they wont work with the chevy 6.2L diesel equiped trucks. Apparently useing a body lift will cause a 6.2L truck to overheat. People say that you can put electric fans on these trucks and that...
DrJekl Isn't kidding about the contact body weighing about 1000 LBS. When I started taking mine off I quickly realized that I had really under estimated the weight of that thing. I didn't think it could of weighed more that 500 LBS. Im guessing thats why the contact body trucks have 10 leaf...
Dang!!! And I thought my wrecker bumper/barricade remover was pretty bad @ss lol. Mine definately isn't 3/8" thick. That thing you have must be a real beast. I'd say that was a great find.
