    Friend just got a M-135, needs some advice

    This, Indeed. I've seen M211's with so much slop in the steering gearbox, that the slop was better measured with a tape measure. Balancing (and checking the wheels for true) make a huge difference.

    I guess I'll have to take pictures. There is no alternate vent system other than what is attached to this valve. Can't really say it's for "fording" since the thing was meant to bob like an unweildy rowboat instead of running submerged. Looks almost like a minature LPG pressure regulator...

    Oh it's a gas engine. 361. It runs quite well actually, once I jumped past the remains of the wiring.There was a later XM410E2 (or similar) that was a multifuel, but this is a gasoline mill. Trans looks like a modified Torquematic, and it will move the vehicle, but the fluid is frothy and pink...

    Not sure if this is the right area, but since it was kind of a proposed replacement- Maybe? (feel free to move to the proper area) I have XM-410 "Pilot No 4" in the yard. The owner has a nice collection of images and test reports, but other than some machinist's drawings of the brake calipers...

    You can deck a little, but be aware you need to have clearance for the valves as well as the piston.

    Definite +1 on the dielectric grease. Spring for the can of 3M, you'll end up using it a lot.

    What is this bracket?

    It is for a water can, just not the 5 gallon "jerry" style cans. The guesses regarding it being for an "Igloo" are very close. Imagine the same type of water cooler, but being made of galvanized steel instead of orange plastic. I've seen pictures of them used with telephone line trucks and similar.

    M37 Voltage Regulator Adjustable??

    I remember seeing a M37 with a carbon pile type regulator. There was a cover that allowed you to adjust the spring pressure on the stack. Not sure if that is what you have though, or how common that VR was.

    I'd rather see it rodded than rotting in a field somewhere. At least it'll be a good change from the innumerable fiberglass bodied Ford T/A "rods" with SB chevys and an entire Jeg's catalog dumped on them.

    A Doodlebug! There's a couple Burma Jeeps around Prescott Arizona that are "modified" in a similar manner.
