    m1009 fuel pump

Just to chime in...I just went through this nonsense and considered an electric pump. I decided to change the mechanical pump instead, mostly due to the fact that the appeal of my m1009 was the lack of electronics in favor of simple systems. Changing the mech. pump sucked and took me about 3...

    Brush guard question

Why do I see so many of these trucks that have damage to the center lower piece of the brush guard, near the front license plate position? Is it related to how they were tied down / trailered when they were in service? I keep looking at mine and I want to fix it but I think I might just cut...

    Missing rear window crank

Interesting, thanks gentlemen. I'm staring at my mill and my lathe and wondering if there's a better way to do this with a locking mechanism. Cucvrus, not related to this but I got one of those $20 fuel filter bases with manual pump from China. I didn't use it. I got an FM100 and put a pump...

    Missing rear window crank

I finally got my truck running and now I'm trying to fix the "small" stuff. I want to replace the missing rear window crank so that I can actually get in and out using the tailgate. Looking at the parts still remaining and then looking at the cranks for sale for the K5 on Ebay and such, I...

    What now?? Fuel pump?

Southern Power Systems of Orlando (407) 293-7971 Clarcor 29578. If you call Clarcor (think this is the same company as Stanadyne Filters, which is not the same as Standadyne anymore - ???) $28.57. They will get you on the shipping, but apparently everyone does. All the places online wanted...

    What now?? Fuel pump?

Quick update. As of this morning the truck is finally running! Big thanks to gimpyrobb for the hook up on the FM100. It's a really nice unit. I may post a picture of the latest part number for the manual primer pump. I believe all of the FM100 stuff changed ownership a couple of years ago...

    What now?? Fuel pump?

Finally had a chance to change out the mechanical fuel pump today. Man, what a pain. It took me over two hours. Now I could probably do another in 30, but I did a couple of things wrong. To anyone else doing this: Don't remove the pump plate on the engine unless you have to. I was having...

    86' M1008 - Contemplating Chevy 350 engine swap

Are there affordable head studs for that motor? They make a huge difference in equalizing torque and pressure on the heads. Although not sure how common blown head gaskets etc are.

    Suburban seat swap

Thanks for the tip. If the second row seats aren't as adjustable, I'd better pass and look for some front seats.

    Suburban seat swap

Found some 60/40 seats locally from a Suburban. '01 I think. The owner says he thinks it's the middle seat. Will these swap to the front of an m1009? I don't mind making brackets if necessary. Rotated the picture...

    86' M1008 - Contemplating Chevy 350 engine swap

It's a 350 with a 400 crank. Popular swap. I have one in my Z28. They are torque monsters. That said, I would stick with something with a GM warranty. I think they might have a 383 in their catalog now. If they don't I imagine they would have a 400. It's pretty easy to screw something up...

    Cpappy M1009 Restoration

What's the best source for this? Basically all the seals on mine are shot and I want to replace all of them.

    What now?? Fuel pump?

GR, I tried to PM you. I'd like to get the current price / options and possibly order one. Thanks.

    What now?? Fuel pump?

For the horn? Wow. This gets more interesting by the day. I imagine some needle nose pliers will remove it but obviously I know little about these trucks. I whiffed on the fuel filter questions. Apparently the stock base has a heater and a water sensor, so sorry about that everyone...

    What now?? Fuel pump?

Well, this is interesting. I just pulled the tape off. That looks like a diode stuck in that terminal.

    What now?? Fuel pump?

Ok, gotcha. Took some stuff off of the engine so I can finally see. I'm going to go ahead and replace the fuel pump since I have one and I might as well if I'm doing the hose. There's very little rubber, except the short sections you mentioned. I'd like to replace it all, but I have a...

    What now?? Fuel pump?

Sounds good, thanks. Is there a cheat sheet for the fuel line sizes I should order if I'm re-doing everything from the tank to the big fuel pump?

    What now?? Fuel pump?

Thanks, very helpful. I'm way down here in GA so I'm not so sure how important the heater is. I've seen some filters with water separators, which might be important considering this truck has NO FUEL CAP! Just noticed that today. I'm not sure how the sensor is used. Speaking of Chinese, I...
