Are there affordable head studs for that motor? They make a huge difference in equalizing torque and pressure on the heads. Although not sure how common blown head gaskets etc are.

It's a 350 with a 400 crank. Popular swap. I have one in my Z28. They are torque monsters. That said, I would stick with something with a GM warranty. I think they might have a 383 in their catalog now. If they don't I imagine they would have a 400. It's pretty easy to screw something up...
