So I slapped another one together, this one is basically an 818 with a shelter / sleeper and then provisions for a civvy type gooseneck trailer in the small bed behind the shelter.
Had the seal thing happen to me when I was working at Firestone. 5 quarts of oil all over the floor, but thankfully the manager or customer didn't see. From then on, I double check the o-ring.
Only problem I can see is that the fording depth is now lower than stock... Maybe a humvee-like extension with an 90deg bend at the bottom to attach to where it exits out the side and route it up?
Ok. So I've searched using every possible combination of words, but have yet to find any decent info on routing the Deuce exhaust to in front of the rear wheels under the bed. What would be cool: Pictures, info on performance (EGT, power), any unforeseen snags (like, Oh, by the way, you will...
I've had experience with 24v in two of my civvy vehicles. One was a VW race motor for a fiberglass sand buggy I built. It had something around 13:1 compression and I went through 2 starters in about a month before deciding to upgrade. Just so turns out, a second Optima battery and a 24v starter...
Would you believe me if I said I used MS Paint, not PS
(ok, I used PS to smooth it out, but did the original cut in Paint. I was just trying to see what it would look like, so I cut and pasted, then realized it looked cool enough to run through PS)
Its a photoshop job I just did. I was bored and wanted to see what it'd look like. Stretched cab, stretched front fender for the rears, left the spare and toolbox on the back.
Damn my creativity. I'm now searching GL for an 818 :-D
The best part is getting pulled over and trying to explain California's law regarding the lack of fenders to the cops. :-D (under a certain weight, you are exempt from fenders)
Its a 1665cc flat four VW motor that was originally built for use in a Baja racer. We ended up never finishing that project, so I reappointed the motor for use in my street rod. Topped it off with dual carbs and electronic ignition. She'll easily beat anything but a big V8 muscle car. Tops out...
I was researching various laws regarding every aspect of my future ownership of a Deuce and came across this. This site is actually pretty informative.
