This is exactly what I am considering my deuce for. Definitely keeping it 6x6. Less ground pressure, better off road performance. Large single tires. With larger tires you can expect a cruising speed of 60. Crank up the fuel a wee bit and get top speeds of 65. Fitting an 11' slide in truck...

Can't remember where I saw it. Some offroad magazine or website. Some guy was using hummer beadlocks and using PVC as the inner. Eventually he welded up a metal "cage" to serve the same purpose. Picture two rings of steel plate, probably cut with waterjet or CNC, joined by welded steel bars...
Saw this little guy while browsing an offroader magazine. I'm definitely putting some on my deuce; can't hurt if I hit a rock or stump.

Any possibility you could throw a shelter on the back and call it an RV and get it insured that way? Lots of folks have motorhomes that they park outside and weigh over 10k.
