I picked up an M1028A1 6 years ago now. Changed fluids, belts, and filters when I brought it home. I have had one pulley and a few glow plugs go on me in 24,000 miles. Just this month I started having injection pump problems. A rebuilt one cost me $300. I'm still at less than $1000 in...
Just noticed what sub-forum this is in. My application is for a CUCV (wheel torque 115 ft*lb according to TM) so this will suit my needs fine. If I recall correctly, the deuce is somewhere around 340 ft*lbs for it's lug nuts. I can see how this may not work for y'all as well.
Broke my last 4 way with a cheater pipe. I'd like to have a second option if necessary (I'll still carry a 4-way, just will be my backup now). Plus, changing 8 lugs is a bit faster with the impact, esp on the side of the interstate or in a mudhole where you can't "spin" the 4-way.
Just picked up a 2002 off everyone's favorite auction site for $200. Couldn't pass up finally being able to use my slave port. Also saw a 7863 Lugmaster 24 DVC Military 1/2" drive impact. It has a built in light which is nice, but I didn't think it was $240 more nice. Any thoughts on that...
Ok, I think I've narrowed my search down to 3 options for a new injector pump (IP). For those that can't see my sig, I've got a 1028A1 with a Banks Turbo kit on the original 6.2L. Was going to swap in a 700R4 but this came up first so that's getting pushed down the road a bit.
Option 1: Ebay...
Drock, you wouldn't happen to have a picture of the two head pipes would you? (Also called down pipe, maybe? ) I believe I might have the same issue.

Had my banks kit on for about 10k. Installed last year, other than a fuel delivery issue (I suspect a failing IP right now) I've had no problems and a big grin everytime I punch it up a hill.
I have seen civvy stuff for sale with the banks kit over 300k a few times and one over 500k.

While working today (and impatiently waiting on my next fuel filter to arrive) I found this: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?154108-Rough-idle-and-surge-after-turning-up-IP
Sounds almost exactly like what happened to me. Since I haven't located an easy place to check my fuel...
Hate to call ya out but diesels always run lean. There's no throttle plate like a gas motor to control airflow in a diesel engine, basically unless you under acceleration the AFR is in a lean condition as only the fuel is monitored. If you don't run enough fuel....the engine just shuts off...
Awesome. When I called in last year it wasn't listed and the salesman told me they had dropped it from their line. Which I of course replied "How can you drop the product that made your company what it is today?"
Glad to hear they're still supporting us old oil burners.

Even in/out of high it'll grind/bind (especially coming out) if the wheels aren't turning the same speed (or someone forgot to lock their hubs). The dodge recommendation was to slowly creep forward while shifting, nothing at speed with the 205. I know my np205 doesn't like shifting at anything...
The 205 is the same as a non-synchro tranny. If you can time it right, it'll shift while rolling, miss it and it'll grind. I believe my visor has a sticker that specifically states to stop before shifting for my 1028A1 though. I'll have to look when I get home.

I was thinking the 208 was shift on the fly.... they're notorious for throwing chains. The 205 is gear to gear, it'll grind a lot trying to shift while moving.

Shouldn't affect it but good luck finding a kit. Banks discontinued support for the 6.2L some time ago, I don't know if they will still put a kit together.
Have one in my 1028A1 and love it.
