At present, none is noticeable in the oil. But if I let it sit for more than a few days without starting it, I have to bleed the rear fuel filter housing (under the hood, not by the fuel tank). Then she purrs. When I first got it and checked the oil, it was like halfway up the dipstick, probably...
I haven't really had much electrical problems with my SEE. Yet. Just a couple wires here and there. Still not my favorite hobby though. If anyone is listening, reserve me one, and a digital copy as well, if available. If not, I'll go through the trouble to have it digitized in extremely high...
Hey there Skidpad, glad to SEE ya join us! Tennessee huh? I did a job over there about a year ago. Torinos Steakhouse in Springfield has the best steak I've ever gotten from a store, without a doubt! Anyways, I know I'm late, but I'll give my opinions.
1. Is there a generally agreed upon engine...
Same thoughts here. I had to make the best of the cold Saturday we had and spend 4 days at the river. Haven't touched mine. Guess I'll have to save up money for injectors and/or the fuel pump. POS!
You haven't dug a tunnel yet!? That's first on my list. :D
Yup, No Ox, found a whole tub of it at work last week. A different contractor must have left it, we use it on everything. They send half of the parts that we actually need, and a brand new tub or two of No Ox for every little job we...
Right there with ya! I have decided that I probably have a cracked injector though. When I first got the beast, it seemed to have 3 or 4 times too much oil in it. I spent the last month fixing all the other stuff, then I go to start it after several days of not starting it, and it won't. Bleed...
I'd like to keep my antifreeze at the upper limits because it's more capable in my opinion, operating in a broader range of temperatures. Probably never benefit me, but when you need it and don't have it, you're singin' a different tune. Since I put Lucas motor oil in the soul of the beast...
Yea, yea. That was a typo on the 60% 30% thing. Of course, it was supposed to be 60% 40%. For the 24 Quart system, that leaves 14.4 Quarts of antifreeze, and 9.6 Quarts of Water. That's approaching the limits of what the experts recommend, right where I'd like to have it.
I forget the trail that led me there, but I found out that Prestone AF2000 was to spec for the SEE. I pondered adding the Lucas Super Coolant stuff to the mix as well, and I still can't decide. I'm planning on using a 60%/30% mix, 14.4 Quarts of pure AF2000 to 9.6 Quarts of water. Some say not...
IIRC, the hammer drill, and chainsaw (and probably others) are supposed be "set" for one or the other. After a short search, I realized I have no idea what these people are talking about. I can say that my impact has forward and reverse, and no other noticeable switches. It works for me. Though...
Someone, somewhere, maybe. But not me. I've called about everywhere I could think of, and felt the dead end was reached when I talked to the Stateside Daimler Unimog expert, and he told me he wished he had a dollar for every time someone called him asking for the electrical diagram P/N GOV-041...
Glad I could help! Someone. Finally. I've not had much to add here, just absorbing all I can. Yea, I noticed that too, the 1.1K RPM stood out. And I'd prefer that, 2K RPM sounds like she is really sweatin', especially without the engine cover.
If I don't get rained out, looks like I'll be...
I got mine running ok. Until I played with the hoe and hit the HI/LO switch, then it revved high and wouldn't go back down at the switch, or cabin controls. Still idles crazy on occasion (sometimes high, sometimes sputtering to death), so I suspect that the air pressure not building up past...

Notice the incredible fuel prefilter. The wire mesh all but fell off in my hand, the Aluminum had a thick powdery oxide coating.
Sorry for the misinformation regarding EI's inventory...
Thanks for the pointers! Mine was packed tight with what I'd expect to be mud dobbers or whatever the're called, the mud nest making wasp. I'll try and keep an eye out for a cover/plug for it. I slid a 5 gallon bucket under the pan and went to town with it. She really lets loose!
I understand...
Thanks, and I am! A few cloudy days in a row and I'm down to cleaning out the fuel tank, fixing the gauges/wires, adding a 6th layer of paint, and greasin' her down. HOT dog! And...I probably did need some reduction in my blood pressure. 8-)
General Hood. I think I have some good news for you...
"I am curious if the damage is localized to vehicles that resided in Texas or did Mercedes just put some special sauce on the harness behind the dash?"
Heh. It's all about status. It just seems fancy to snack on imported Mercedes wires, the caviar of junk yard rodents. I may lay out some...
