Ive got a guy who will trade my front hubs (M1008 ) for his dually hubs. I pulled the locking hubs and found the smooth nut with 4 notches. Went to NAPA and they sold me a socket that will work on "all DANA 60 axles up to 1 tons"...aaaaaah....wrong! The nut is bigger! Found another 4 prong...
My lift pump started leaking too. Did the contortion routine and changed it out...no more leak! If I have to do it again...I'm putting in an electric one....
I drive mine (1008 ) 45 miles one way to work 3 days a week. Most is interstate. Keep it around 55-60 MPH. I change my oil regularlly (3000 mi) and try to stay on top of the minor gliches. It just clocked 79K...still chuggin along...
License plate? Whats that?.....
NM we just find something and put it in the back window...or get a temporary plate from a dealer!
Na just kiddin!..... I think I paid $117.00 (based on weight M1008) for 1 year registration
Disconnect all battery cables to both batteries. Hook up charger to each battery. Let batteries charge up. Disconnect battery chargers. Re-hook up all battery cables clean and check connections. Try starter YMMV
If the U joints on the old shaft were worn then they gave out under the new (old) yoke
I always change out the u joints and have the drive shaft balanced YMMV
Theres a few slots in the fuse block One marked ignition is only hot when the key is on. There are other slots that are battery hot. Check with a meter though one slot is 24 volts!
The relay powers the AM FM and one of my two way radios. The AM FM doesnt have a clock or presets, Most AM FM radios nowdays have two power sources One for battery (Clock and presets) and one for ignition (radio control} Im powering both radios through the battery. The relay uses the ignition...
Did the doghead relay change, installed a new CDR, cleaned the return fuel flow valve and replaced the rubber hose. Put in a relay to control my radios (ignition on turns battery power to the radios) I was getting real bad alternator whine when I had the radios hooked up through the ignition...
Ive had my M1008 about 10 years. Its always been a little stubborn starting when its cold or sat for a while. When its warmed up you barely touch the starter and VOOM it fires right up.
Lately its getting more arthritic and harder to start when its cold. I fire the GPs twice through the GP card...
Ditto :ditto: Park it on the side Relax and think about it later
They aren't making them anymore and later you'll say..."I shouldn't have got rid of it..."
I've had mine 10 years and I'm sure its going to take a dump sometime. I'll set it aside and work on it at my pace.
I was looking at some deuces on the GL website. Some on them have what looks like a half hubcap or wheel weight on the front and rear wheels. What is that? Purpose?
Thanks
Fowler
