The wing nuts to the air cleaner (M1008 ) had stripped out at the upper air cleaner cover level. They would also spin around as the engine idled. I took a couple of rubber o ring washers and placed them under the wing nuts. This gave them new threads to bite and the rubber keeps them from...
Windshield Washer Repair
As requested pics of the windshield washer repair (1987 K30 washer bottle, hose Y, and wiper motor connector.) If you need any more, let me know :D
Repaired the windshield washer. I put in a repair kit for the pump previously...no joy. The pump would work intermittently. I messed with the cannon plug which plugs into the wiper motor assembly...hit or miss. The rebuild on the washer pump began leaking so I was going to replace the entire...
No problem on the GP relay. The connections can be to either pole. They aren't polarity dependent. Put a meter on one large post (12v tap) and make sure you have 12V. Then move the meter to the other post (glow plug side) and turn on the ignition switch, you should get 12V.
Man, by the time your done you could have taken the radiator cap off this truck and drove another one under it. Nice persistence! Hope you get the electrical gremlin! :D
I was examining my harmonic balancer when I found witness marks around the outer rim. Further evaluation I found the timing marker was loose and rubbing against the balancer. Dont know if it would cause damage or just an annoyance.
Always something else to check......;-)
I went to a local spring shop. (Mc Brides) They re-arched the springs added a new leaf, and bushings. It was worth it taking the truck to them. They were able to determine that the truck was leaning to one side and compensated for that. Had I thrown a set of springs on the truck I don't know if...
I added a 4" lift after driving it for 10 years stock. The lift and the HMMWV wheels and tires are worth it. Rides and drives much better and I can actually PASS someone on the interstate!
My 2cents
Re-arched and added springs. New bushings. Added dually hubs up front, new front brakes. Rear wheel spacers. Installed HMMWV wheels with MTR tires....whew!
Added pic of dually hubs
I installed 37" tires on my M1008 after a 5" lift. I have a slight rub on the front fenders.
What device(s) did you use to trim the fenders?
How much should I trim?
What did you do with the cut areas so they don't become future body hackers? Rolled edges? Rubber trim?
Thanks
