    Glow plug circuit board

dstang97, Good question. I pulled mine yesterday to clean it. It is stamped 1986, so it looks like ****. The IC leads look a little rusty; but they are all in place. My Blazer is starting again; but sometimes it needs me to tap the starter relay to wake the bugger up. I don't know if this is GP...

    Fresh perspective please.

So I have started my Blazer another 6 or so times, then click. I was unhappy; but I know I alone have to fix it, so no crying. I tapped the relay- still hanging from the dash. Turn the key- starts right up another 6 times so far. What the heck?

    GP push button modification

Hey antennaclimber, according to the post above, if a guy chooses the AC GP over the Wellman plug. The WAIT light cycles is too short. Can you reprogram a version of your GP cards for longer cycle times? "IT... COULD... WORK!" -Dr. Frodorick Fronkonsteen . . . ...

    doghead relay surprise...

With no issues right now on the vehicle. I think it is the right time to try the Doghead mod. take a pic, in case you have to replace the current relay. Install all four wires per the Mod. Fire it up. If it runs as expected, then you are back in business with piece of mind that the new relay...

    Fresh perspective please.

I GOT IT STARTED! after scanning the TMs for glow plug ideas. I decided it was time to pull the card and clean the terminals and connection points. I also pulled the wink wire from the IP. I followed the test procedures: Pull the Pink IP wire, Pull the card and follow the protocol for testing...

    That under dash cooking noise

I have been reading all related threads about NO START conditions due to: Bad Starter/Solenoid. Bad Starter relays Bad Glow Plug Relay Bad Glow Plug modules I keep getting two things out of them: 1. People describe hearing a "cooking, "sizzling, burning sound, akin to bacon frying before...

I don't know if they can be tested. I'll put a new one in tomorrow.

    Fresh perspective please.

SGT Estum, I have tried three new relays already, I don't believe in that kind of bad luck. I am now trying to figure out the Purple with white stripe circuit. The latest twist is that when I fry to start the Blazer, I hear a click and a chirp from under the dash- about where the voltage meter...

    Fresh perspective please.

rchalmers3, Yes it cranks if I jump the wire from the RED starter relay post to the PURPLE post. I just put a new Starter Relay in. I know: The Starter Relay (SR) is getting 24V The PURPLE post on the SR is not being energized when the key is turned. The SR ground is sound as I have added a...

    Fresh perspective please.

Southdave, I checked the ground on this circuit. I even added an extra ground to the starter at the support bracket. It seems the relay is not working right because the purple post does not get energized when the key is turned. I think I'll go pull the steering wheel and have a look at this...

    ignition/starting trouble

Old thread I know; but I hate to find threads with no posted resolution, even if they resolved it by a gas can and pack of matches  Could this be an ignition switch problem? I see someone posted that the wires at the key switch were corroded. I'd like to hear from the OP.

    Fresh perspective please.

Could it be the relay is bad? Its a new one from NAPA?... But then again, it is ok for the first few starts. Could it be the BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH?

    Fresh perspective please.

More testing. Disconnected the purple wire from the relay: 1.Purple relay post does not get any power when key is ON. 2. Purple lead- disconnected, is showing a ground.

    Fresh perspective please.

mistaken1, The red wire at the starter relay is giving 24-25 volts. The purple wire is not getting any juice with the key in the ON position. It actually shows a ground.

    Fresh perspective please.

I replaced the original starter relay as per the Doghead mod. I just tested a few things: The battery cable is getting 24v at the starter solenoid. The Starter relay is getting 24v. No power is coming from the "purple" post on the starter relay whether the key is in the ON or OFF position...

    Fresh perspective please.

I have been working on my starter problem for 2 months now. At first I believed it was the starter- pulled it found it was a 12V DD. Replaced it with a new 28MT gear reduction starter. Started right up. On the third startup all I hear is click. I put a new solenoid in because I know I shorted...

    Vent window lock disassembly reasembly

My M1009 has one origininal, I think. wing window -Black with lock button. The other side has been replaced with an older "Wing"- no lock button. I am actually happy with this arrangement as I have an 73 Chevy C20 pick-up with these wing windows and I have been able to let myself in when I lock...

    transmission doesnt shift

Check to see if the transmission modulator is connected and the hose is sound. You need to probably post more info on what is happening. Not shifting to 2nd from low? Not going into any gear? Won't move in drive or Reverse?
