best place to tune-up my 6.2

I have not been having any trouble... having said that I would like to be ahead of the curve on ignition problems. This is my first diesel, so forgive me if my nomenclature is off. I just read some threads about timing and where to set it and at what RPM, etc,. I can work on my SBC all day; but...

HELP! Starter issues and Im in Mexico

Cool story to follow, and there was a happy ending in it for you. How lucky that the driver had the touch. For a while it looked like you were in deep ***. Well who knows... after you had those tacos...

    CUCV "Must do" mods?

If your new MV is like most from the Army, then you may consider a detailed interior sprucing up: Remove the dash pad. If it is in good shape the clean and paint it. If it is not... get one from a truck or blazer or suburban from the wrecking yard- you may have to keep looking until you find...

    Heater core replacement

You can remove the heater core without removing the engine compartment side of the heater box. Later, Joe Joe, I have the core from Napa- I figure I'll make the call on rebuiling when I see the old one. My question is that every other thread I read here says you need to pull a couple of...

    Interior coating for M1009

I decided to spray a liner in my truck; but was put off by the high cost of some of the professionally applied ones. Likewise, I did not want to try box store of parts store brands like dulpicolor or herculiner. I asked at some of the forums and was told that SEM had a real good, easy-to-apply...

where is the correct antenna tie down point?

Mistaken1, you are mistaken... couldn't resist. The antenna, when pulled down does not interfere with the door whatsoever. I had the antenna on my M1008 knock off and had it in the same location. When I went through low trees or narrow trails it was easy for me to pull the cable to lower the tip...

where is the correct antenna tie down point?

As you may have read in my recent thread, I have added an antenna mount to the rear driver side of my M1009 Blazer. The antenna whip needs to be tied forward; but I can't find an obvious tie out for the tie down cord. The bumper seems too far forward. Anyone know the "right" place or have a...

Sudden no start, TM says replace starter.

MATT, thanks for posting a resolution... so far, to this thread. I appreciate learning how such problems are resolved. It makes it easier to assemble a list of things to check in the future for others looking for solutions later.

Change a tire in the woods jack recommendations

Any jack tha will get you up safely is a good one. The hi-Lift is a great jack for LIFTING- you cannot work under it... sooo take cribbing- even 2x4s or 4x4s if that is all you have OR take along reliable jackstands. Hi-Lift the rig, lock in the jack stand and then change the tire. The question...

    Antenna Mount nutsert tool

I had to move the antenna mount from the existing front location to the rear on my M1009 Blazer. The problem was that the rear did not have nutserts in place on this vehicle- I have seen other M1009 Blazers with both locations ready to accept the antenna mount. I looked around the web and found...

    ignition/starting trouble

Thanks for posting a resolution- glad to hear you are up-and-running. Too bad the original poster could not get things resolved. I had similar issues; but finally got my M1009 running after sanding all the leads in the GP card box . I still had intermittant issues where I would get a loud click...

Can I swap in 3/4T HD springs into my M1009?

12vctd, Thanks for the details, they did help answer my question... decision time. NOW... what is: " M1009 adv inj timing, 1/8 Fuel screw turn, runs like a dream."? This sounds like a must do mod, what exactly is this about?

Can I swap in 3/4T HD springs into my M1009?

wdbtchr, what do you mean? Is the Blazer going to ride noticeably harder? The C10 pick up- a 1/2T is different because of the springs; yet I don't notice a harsh ride in my C20 with 3/4T springs. Besides the 3/4T springs have been broken in for 38 years.

Can I swap in 3/4T HD springs into my M1009?

Iceman, so are you saying I should be able to get all the springs from my 3/4 ton pick up (front and rear) and put them into my Blazer? What will happen to the pick up if I put the blazer springs in it? Would it just be a 1/2 ton?

Can I swap in 3/4T HD springs into my M1009?

ok, I'll measure them; but even if the truck has a longer set, this guy in my body/paint class yesterday told me he did the same swap and they bolted right in- his bronco was in the shop and when I looked at it, it was apparent that the leaf swap gave him a lift as well. NOW... what can be done...

Can I swap in 3/4T HD springs into my M1009?

I have a 73 C20 pick-up (chevy, for those of you that don't habla), I was going to sell the truck; but am wondering if I can swap the rear springs straight across for the ones in my Blazer- any know, or try it yet? Ed

    new M416 trailer

Bought one last week. I need to replace the Lunette Ring- Might be able to weld just the ring, where it was cut off to make room for a ball hitch. Also need a spare. The trailer now has two stock wheels, I would like to keep them that way. Are the military tread tires good for freeway miles...
