    American flag M-816 wrecker

I would say raise and extend your boom to it's max. Payout the hook enough to attach a 4X6, 5X8 or even a 6X10 Flag to the wire rope. I believe that would be a tasteful display with a high regard to Flag etiquette and protocol. Those large flags are near impossible to fold and store as are...

    M-series flasher relay - civvy conversion how-to

My third GI flasher unit in nine years has decided to go south me and I am now done with those problem children. Driving SoCal freeways with no flashers is scary proposition. So, here's my stab at this upgrade on my M818. I did fudge up the on the "L" contact lead on the wiring harness. I was...

Who's driving in a Parade on the 4th?

We provided our truck to the Huntington Beach, CA, American Legion Post 133 to ride some of its member Veterans in the 114th Annual Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade.

Not good for California MV owners or buyers

Indeed, it has! I do have this recurring nightmare that I will get a letter from the DMV surreptitiously rescinding my registration. We beat CARB...for now...

Not good for California MV owners or buyers

I've had my M818 registered Historic for nearly 9 years now. I did VIN verify (REG 31) through AAA myself, then Historic plates were obtained through a titling/registration service. No issues.

All 5-tons: Heavy Duty Torque Rod Ends

Because I have a completely level surface at my disposal to do the job.

All 5-tons: Heavy Duty Torque Rod Ends

1 - Anti-seize 2 - M939-series TM calls for a "pre-load", but M809-series does not. Same identical suspension designed to handle the same load and handling. You be the judge. I did not preload the M818.

    M818 batteries

Two Interstate group 31's in a custom installed M915 battery box. One of the best mods I have ever done.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I got that particular netting from eBay. It's Camo Unlimited MS02B. It's green/brown woodland and is roughly 10' x 20'. Also try Camo Netting Store http://www.camonettingstore.com/. Lots of good stuff there. It does take a beating in the sun though. This one is less the two years installed and...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Actually not just this week, but done over the last few months. I have just been slow to post. These are not anything huge as far as projects go, but mostly just incidentals, conveniences and upgrades. I installed two double jerry can holders in both front corners of the bed. The holders are...

    Air lines cut.....tranny shifts early

Those cut air lines lead from the non-service side of the of diaphragm in the brake chamber. They are there to equalize pressure, if any, on that side and it does not really effect the service pressure. All those vent lines lead to your air intake stack. When I installed M939-series front wedge...

I finally joined the club and bought my first MV! - M813A1

If you remove the the neutral locking plate it will work. I like the locking plate as it removes the guess work ensuring the PTO is set to neutral. I don't have a pic of it right now, but I cover that forward hole with a thick flap of rubber riveted in place.

I finally joined the club and bought my first MV! - M813A1

Rubber lines, I second that! However, an M813 hasn't a fuel tank selector valve.

I finally joined the club and bought my first MV! - M813A1

Got these on my M818. These photos are from eight years ago and they still look like this. They came from John Tennis... http://www.jatonkam35s.com/m35shiftboots.htm You can't put one on PTO shift lever due to the NEUTRAL locking plate.
