can an ignition lock be rekeyed to 73Y2 ?

I see that my ignition can be turned without a key in it sometimes. I know I can get a new ignition lock cylinder for under $20; but I was hoping to keep it stock so I don't have to have two keys, or have to have the door locks rekeyed to match the new cylinder lock. Anyone know where I can get...

    Removable Top Question

How about making a rope harness that runs from the garage ceiling over a pulley to the four corners of the top (4 strands). A "J" shaped hook attached to the end of each strand "hooks"under each corner of the top. Unbolt the top. Pry up each corner and break the seal. Slip the hook (3/16"x1"...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Clipped the Battery cable lugs and replaced them with 3/8" Flat spade connectors for the new 31 group batteries with the screw down posts. Soldered all and shrink tubing to clean them up. It has been raining here, so I still await a couple of sunnny days to bolt the starter and new solenoid it...

    M1009 trailer: M416 OR M101XX

maddawg308, I know, I know; but you never know when someone might just say, "I like you, **** you can come over to my house and take my trailer" :D.

    M1009 trailer: M416 OR M101XX

I have been looking around to get a trailer and I am getting mixed signals on what would be easier to pull and back-up. I thought the M416 was the better match; but was recently told that the M101A2 was easier to "see over". I don't want to pull around loads of gravel or anything, just a 90 Lb...

    When the spare goes too...

Thanks Mohawk Dave, this is just the reason why all questions should be tolerated even if asked before. Starting Fluid? you won't find this fix in the TM9.

    Help! Newbie here

Yeah, eBay has 'em; but I bought a new chrome one for like $12. The whole crank. Sanded it down to the copper plate and scuffed it. Then the whole thing was shot with self-etching primer- like 4-5 coats. Followed with the flat black same number of coats. They take a beating and ever now-and-then...

    Removing the TH400

QuickSilver thanks for completing the thread with a happy ending. I hate to find an interesting thread and read 3 pages only to find it unresolved. Feel free to post any tips on the R&R, after getting reamed on a transmission job on my wife's car earlier this month, I think I'll pull my tranx...

m1008 cargo cover and bow Dimensions

Are you looking for an OEM set or just something reliable to keep your cargo cover in place? I bought mine a few years ago from a guy that had a torched set in his yard. He rewelded and ground them down. The shipping was fair. I got all the parts except for the rail that attaches to the...

    CUCV longevity

Whatever the reason, I am glad I am able to buy and drive one even all these years later. I wish the HMMWVs would be retired as soon to the public... for any reason. Hey ABN173, I come up to Ft. Lewis every 3-4 months with my dad. We go to the PX and Commissary and class 6 store. I love being...

    When the spare goes too...

The outback guy was driving on dirt roads actually- its just that the rocks are quite jagged down under. when you say "cans", do you mean the one that shoot the foamy goo into the tire? How do they work? I understand they leave a mess in your rim- I'd much rather have to clean one up that spend...

    When the spare goes too...

I saw a survival show a few weeks ago about some guy in the outback with his daughter on a fishing trip. He had a Rover or something and carried three spare, really 3! Well it would not be a survival story without blowing tires like they were birthday candles, so one after another, he runs out...

    Swing away tire carier?

Merkwork, I looked for commercial carriers and found none that were reasonable. I just kept an eye on the wrecking yard and I found one on a Pathfinder. The bumper was real heavy duty and this aftermarket carrier has a pin that sinks into the bumper, then latches on the driver side- 2 points...

    Feedback - CUCV

hndrsonj, OK, so I read the OP audit trail. You and many others have followed this fellow's postings apparently closer than I. Things seem to be what they are and I have to agree, in point, that he comes off as somewhat entitled to a fast answer because he has a business agenda. You get some...

    Feedback - CUCV

We have all been reminded to look at the manuals. There is no need to be telling people they are an annoyance, or remind them that your time is valuable like that. We all come to the forums to learn stuff, sometimes we need help in a hurry, sometimes we don't know where the info in the manual is...

    Tubeless on steroids tire.

The videos from the manufacturer show them putting the tires over the testing grounds; but they seem to travel S-L-O-W. I can even imagine hitting a speed bump at Office Depot very fast without doing some damage. Soft graded dirt is one thing; running at top speed over unpaved, wash board...

    Uncommon modification on new CUCV

Ummm AIR. I wouldn't mind having some in my Blazer; but there seems to be plenty to worry about under there now. Sounds like a job for an AC shop- it's probably cheaper this time of year to have them check the system for you. If everything runs and charges the way it is set up now, and you can...
