What did you win? June 16, 2011

I bid $2700 on a 1985 M1008 w/ bows, side boards, troop seats and folded canvas at Redstone; but let it go after the 15 min overtime kicked in and the other bidder got it for $2800... I was interested in it because of the above, but maybe another one will show up for auction later...

    Re-run classified ads question

Mods, While there is plenty of "un-paid" help policing For Sale and Wanted to Buy postings in the non-classified forums of SS, what about ads like this that keeps re-appearing: REDUCED PRICE 1972 M35A2 - quick sale!!! Located in Aldie, VA - Steel Soldiers::Military Vehicles Supersite This...

    Gov Liq Generator Working Ratio

1 for 1 with me... ! My MEP 016B was out of fuel, low on oil and had a dead battery (but "complete" parts wise). Took it to my GENSET buddy on post, he topped off the low oil, added diesel, jumped it off and she started up and ran great. One gauge (frequency) is intermittent, but she puts...

My m1009 project just about complete

Curious on where you got the weatherseals (and if they were cheap compared to GM OEMs ones) and the daskboard? Looking great and those seats look "comfy"...!

    CUCV U joints

Can you detail what or why they broke? I haven't replaced mine (OEM ones with 53K miles) and wonder what breaks them besides no PMCS or hard off-roading...

Stupid question time: How to post to classifieds?

... or some of the unpaid "minders" around here will alert that mod who will send you to jail... :x

    Tailgate crank assy for dummies!

Yep, but sorry guys - I bought his last one... He did say he may get more (wish I had bought a couple of spares while he had them)... :-(

    Blew a head gasket

Glad to hear you got it running Iceman! Thanks for answering my question - after 11 years of owning my '86 M1009 with 54K on it (now), I was wondering if a head gasket job was/is in my "future"... Sounds like I need to pull my valve covers and check the head bolt torque on mine too... BTW...

    Where's Your License Plate?

Mine is next to my passenger seat (also next to my "US Army" ball cap) and I have an OD painted 6x9 stereo magnet stuck to the bumper for use "in case" I get pulled over... (that magnet will be placed on the rear tailgate and license plate "slapped on" the magnet)... Have had my M1009 for 11...

    Lssv cucv

New to me and that one on eBay looks good - though "pricey" (so far...)

    Battery Question 1008

Sounds like a very good deal for "proper" fitting Group 31s... I was too cheap and went with the "smaller" Group 34s... Next time, it will be the 31s for me...

    Help NEEDED!!!!

Hmm, not looking to start a fight between CUCVs and Deuces, but sent you a PM with one non-owning CUCV (Deuce owner though) lame, not helpful reply to a CUCV thread. Another guy uses CUCVs as wheel chaulks - "tongue in cheek" comment probably, but isn't favorable to us "little" MV owners...

    Help NEEDED!!!!

You're welcome! Seriously, I got "spanked" too - so I pass my wisdom to you "Grasshopper"... and you'll learn who the "delta hotels" are (some who post in the CUCV section, but don't own one)... Regardless, for all it's "quirks", this site is chocked full of CUCV info. Try to do a Google...

    Help NEEDED!!!!

WESTECH is correct about everything being 12V except for the starter and a few other items like slave receptable... A few tips since you're "new" and you WILL get your pee pee spanked around this "rigid" website: 1. Do a search first (especially in the CUCV forums)... 2. Download all the...

    Easy stock fuel filter change

Good idea! I poured fresh diesel in mine (like doing an oil filter), installed it, truck started, died, started, died, started, stayed running - did not have to bleed anything...

    Truck topper on my M101A2

Just need a little CARC paint and you're in business... Great deal for $50!!!

    Full ins coverage on M1009?

I have full coverage through USAA on my M1009. It costs an extra $96 per year with $500 deductable and I paid way more than $3K for mine... If you didn't drive a lot (like 2K miles or less per year), you could get "stated value" from classic car insurers, but again - that works ONLY if your...

    M1009 console installation

Nice job and thanks for sharing the pics too... I almost bid on that console, but already had one (not installed yet) - glad you got it. Where did your lower seat covers come from?

    Blew a head gasket

ARP studs Be mindful of the sealer used on those ARP studs... If you don't - you'll have coolant leaks. They work, got them on my Grand National (bolts, not studs) and have read many horror stories on the Buick boards about them leaking because of not using sealant, wrong kind, not enough...

    M1008 pintle hitch

I towed one M1009 with another M1009 136 miles using a medium military towbar... I did buy one of those Reese 2" ball/pintle combo hitches and a Reese towbar as a "Plan B", but was able to hand receipt a brand new USGI tow bar from my Supply sergeant. Was going to mount the combo hitch, but it...
