If you switch to 35" tires you need to change your gear ratio. A lot of guys say no but my opinion is that those guys will typically drive the truck a little while and sell it. The current gears in your axles, with 35" tires, would put strain on your transmission. I put a lift with 35" tires on...
Something you may or may not have noticed on my post was that my new hub came with races already in the hub. No need to put in new ones. So I wound up with a bunch of races I didn't need.
If you order a new spindle it will more than likely come with a new inner spindle bearing (the needle bearing mentioned) and the seals for it. Mine did. Plus I think you have to press them in anyhow. How do your hubs look? Mine looked ok until I needed to clean it getting ready to install. Once...
Well I didn't buy new u-bolts. Thought I said that but I'll have to go back and check. Instead of center pins I used socket head cap screws. They are stronger than a grade 8 pin anyhow and if I ever need to remove them it will be a whole lot easier. Then I used 5/8 Grade 8 lock nuts for the...
It's like everything else. If the mechanic who ran that motor pool prided himself or herself on excelent maintenance and good running vehicles and the command pushed for proper use you'll get a good truck. If the unit had young driver's with an invicible attitude and mechanics with a "that's...
Didn't realize there was that much of a differance. You may be able to rent a 20' bumper pull. Better yet someone mentioned a flatbed wrecker. Honestly at only 90 miles that's what I would do.
You can tow it with a 16' bumper pull trailer. I towed my 3/4 ton 4x4 diesel suburban on one without any problems. Just for the record I was using a 2500 Dodge diesel to tow it. I would definatley get a truck with trailer brakes.
How long a recovery is it going to be?
I had one on a Dodge diesel and noticed no gains from it. Besides all the talk about voided warranties and such I think the fact that they don't seem to add any power and cost a lot more than a regular filter should be enough to stay away from them. I like Wix or Baldwin filters myself. Both...
OK got everything back together with all new hardware except for the u-bolts. I replaced the center pins with new ones and a new nut with blue loctite. The old ones came out solid but were pretty worn out. Also the u-bolts were a little loose on some nuts but not all. I replaced the nuts...
OK I took it by the body shop and they said they don't think the frame is bent. Also they didn't charge me anything.
So I went by the place where I took it to check out the allignment and such and he said he didn't check the rear end at all. :x
SOOOOO I'm going to try and check the rear...

Glad the cheated pipe worked. I got a new spindle for mine and it was $100 shipped but I have an M1009. Not sure if yours will cost more or not. I might have been able to re-use mine but my feeling was why risk it?
Ok I got a call into a customer of mine that has a frame machine. He's going to check it out and then let me know how much to fix. I think he'll be cheaper than the other guy and I have a relationship with him. I'll probably see about getting some of those dents pulled while it's in there. I'm...
Ok my local shop said that the vehicle is indeed dog tracking but that he thinks it's the frame. He said the alignment doesn't need to be adjusted and he checked everything and it looks good. He gave me a few body shops to try out and see if they can check the frame. I found a guy near by who...
