WSUCougarx's M561 Gama Goat Acquisition and Build Thread

Mike, if you need to go that way, there is a place in Chehalis, Industrial specialties, 360-748-0247. They make hoses and tubing and can make just about anything you need. I had them make the air line off the compressor in the M54, just a bit over 6 feet long, stainless braid with kevlar...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Getting that spring suspension figured out, really improved the trucks enjoyability, once that darn squeaking was gone. The only other thing that I have to watch is to make sure that I cover the exhaust stack when not in use. It rains quite a bit here and it is somewhat comical to see peoples...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

had a similar problem on the M54 with the spring suspension of the exhaust. It squeaked to distraction when driving. I found a stiffer spring (think it may have been a bit longer too), also put a couple nylon or teflon flat washers in between the spring and bracket, and put it back together...

looks like the same pin to hold the hood stay on the 5 ton.

Drat. It rained during light up, but during the parade it cleared up and was nice right up till the end.

    PNW Info Thread!

I think the next major event is Armed Forces Day at JBLM. We will be doing a Desert Storm display there. Keep an eye on the upcoming events thread. I try to post most of the things we are doing.

    PNW Info Thread!

Went well except for the downpour during light up time. The jeep was a 43 MB. It is a brother and sister team and they are both retired. They had that thing lit up 2 weeks before the parade. Keep an eye on us, you are certainly welcome to join in, however possible. We are trying to get...

Centralia, WA December 12, 2015 Lighted Tractor Parade

Parade is a go. Bring your truck or come out and watch. If you have any questions about this one, please give me a call. 360 870 0706 Peter I am going to have breakfast with the Vietnam PBR guys in the morning and then maybe work on their projects for a couple of hours, then home to light up...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Anyone have a recommendation on how to modify your M923 under the bed tool box to keep it dry inside? I have looked through multiple threads and can't find a similar question. The top hinge looks like an issue and there are four drain holes in the bottom, and of course the bolts going through...

Centralia, WA December 12, 2015 Lighted Tractor Parade

we are having some minor flooding issues right now, but as far as I know the parade is still a go for Saturday. Think we have about 6 vehicles lined up so far. I am pumping water, but the water is going down, so should be good to go on Saturday.

    PNW Info Thread!

Scott, take a look at the upcoming events section, but date is 12 Dec. Parade is at 1800. Or be at my house about 1400 for truck decoration and we will have some hamburgers before we go line up. Wolfen, I am not that familiar with OR, but if you don't mind working outside, you might take a...

    PNW Info Thread!

Wolfen, what type of work are you looking for? On the CDL, if you go to Worksource or whatever Oregon's equivalent is, sometime they have some funding available to help with Certificate training such as CDL. I am on the construction side and this time of the year is not the best for that. SR...

Centralia, WA December 12, 2015 Lighted Tractor Parade

Hello Team. Anyone interested in lighting up your MV's for the Tractor Parade? I think this will be our 4th year. We would most likely meet at my house, in the alley around 1400. Bring your converters and generators and all the lights you can find. Put all the lights and Christmas decorations...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Put another document box behind the passenger seat on the 923. It was a bugger getting hole alignment scribed out for drilling. The added weight really wasn't that much. And it will be nice to have one more small storage space in the rig. Watch your hole spacing so you don't come in on the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

When you say rear running, do you mean your constant tailight? No turn signals, no flashers? I played with that issue a couple of weeks back and it ended up being the turn signal switch. Grounds on taillight cans were cleaned, all wires were pulled, polished, and greased. Bulbs were swapped...

WSUCougarx's M561 Gama Goat Acquisition and Build Thread

Mike, that looks like a somewhat similar product to JB weld. I have considered using the JB but was concerned about how the paint would affix to it. I would say our Gama goat wheel is the same as in the M54. At least it is the same style as mine. One of these days you will have to have a...

WSUCougarx's M561 Gama Goat Acquisition and Build Thread

What was the product you used to fill the gaps in the steering wheel? Your wheel looked better than my 923 wheel and I have pondered on doing such a repair. Will be interested how the painting goes on the wheel as well. P

    54 m38a1 USS CORAL SEA

There used to be a WW2 Navy jeep up this way that we would see at some of the displays. He had an 1/8" thick steel hood. Story was that they would use it as mobile scaffold on the carrier deck so the guys could stand on it. It was an interesting and useful modification. Other than that, it...

    Willys MB Won't Start

Did it run with the old condenser? You might try putting it back in, if so. With the small electrical components, new does not necessarily mean okay. I have had this problem 3 times with jeeps. One time I had replaced with the gold plated condenser, couldn't be the condenser, I bought the...

    Willys MB Won't Start

You might also swap your condenser. This is a cheap test, probably less than 5 bucks. Fought that on the M38A1 last year. Had great knowledgeable minds look at it. Finally called Mr. Wizard, he asked if I had tried a new condenser, and that was about the only thing that hadn't been changed...
