Well, our old deuces are being recalled. I still don't know what (aside from cutting them up), the surplus plans are. Our local units are starting to get the new beasts. I see them on the road often. One of my buddies is on the next conversion course, and has promised to get some close up pics...
I agree with keeping the flying metal to a minimum.
There is a really handy TM on this site about recovery and rigging.
If you are doing anything in this area, please read it.
Then read it again.
I use a 3" x 30' hawser rope that is used by tugboats. If I need an extension, only then do I consider chain. Once the winch gets mounted, I will still keep the rope!
Make sure that it is previewed by someone who knows what to look for. Be prepared for the fact that you may have to tow it off of the lot, and have a nearby place on standby, if req. Also, do make sure that you have a reliable hauler on standby, just in case the work required is too great for a...
And you thought that GL forlift drivers lacked a deft touch?
When the vid finishes there are several other similar incidents.
I must warn you not to have a mouthful of coffee when viewing.
Sticky stuff and keboards are a poor match!
While wasting time I found this link. The truck has long since found a new home, but the pics are real cool, and the info.....
MILITARY TRUCK FOR SALE
Any museum would love to have this truck!
I won't vote, but I will chime in. If the truck is of a state that it is almost perfect, let someone else buy it off of you and keep the truck original. If it has some problems which make it ready for a project, go for it. That is just simple economics. A couple of good trucks, which are sent...
Get it dirty, and give it a good run. That way you will find the items that need attention. These trucks were built to be soldier proof (NOT Sailor). It is way better to find out under a controlled environment, what you need to do. When I get the part # for seals, that will be a must do.
If it...
You might not see us on the rally. I have recieved a request to participate in a cross Canada fund raiser for returned soldiers and their families. I think that this is more important than enjoying a convoy run. I am still going to try to get down to meet you, as this is important to me. When I...
If there is any way that you can "Meet or Exceed" current local regs you will save yourself a whole bunch of hassles from rookie LEOs. It does not cost a bunch, just to do the simple stuff. It's up to you, but I know that our rig is up to date. If I find a good dual brake circuit which looks...
They are on E-Pay and Saturn Surplus.
The ones I used came out of a 69 Beaumont that underwent an interior color change.
Even the correct MFR badge to use on an M-135 (GMC).
Just check with your local wrecker for black or green Lap Belts in good condition. the cost should be low!
I don't know about getting the Air Brakes working, but did I not hear that LED lights will take from 10-28 volts without any problems? Might be worth looking into. It could be just 1 particular set of lights, but I think that this would be worth a search!
