This is not my thread, but personally...
I do want to know where the retreads are hanging their hats, and what they are up to now.
Start a new thread if req, but it kinda interests me.2cents
So, what are your plans? M-211, 220 (shop van/ camper), 221 tractor..... Nosey minds want to know. Keep us posted.
If you have not already, download TM 9-8024. It helps!
For your first one, buy from a private reputable seller. Several post here.
Try the classifieds here as well.
Once you have your feet wet, that may be the time to gamble on the auctions.
Make sure that you view the unit, and/or have someone who knows preview it.
Do consider shipping costs...
If you can get it cheap, and have the time and energy to wrench it, DO IT!
I found a winch, but I'm still looking for bits.
If you are willing to save this from becoming a Toyota, I'll be more than happy to get parts from another truck!
Once you have completed basic and have earned an MOC, that's good enough for me. For those that are still going into Harm's Way, I definately want to know where you are, and how you are doing. Most importantly, I want to know that you got home safe. Take care, and my personal thanks for doing...
Yup, you are right on with the details, Winch lever was under seat mounted, cable operated. I'm hoping to find out if any other trucks that were not in the 135/ 211 series used the same PTO. That will help in my search. We picked up the right Garwood 10,000 lb winch and jack shafts for $400...
Sounds like Dad just got a helper. Good for you. Listen, learn get greasy and have FUN! You'll be driving the truck in parades before you know it. Then you are going to drive your Dad crazy by getting one of your own. I'm pretty sure he'll help you. Good Luck.

Well we found the correct Winch, Jack Shaft and Pillow Block. Could someone tell me which is the correct PTO for the M-135? Are there others that will fit? Thanks. Also trying to find Control Lever Assy, and mounting brackets. Are there any others that will fit aside from the stock ones?
If you were operating under combat conditions, yes you could.... if you really had to. In the land of peace, I would highly not reccomend it. You don't have the weight or the brakes to do this. If it meant saving lives, well maybe.
If it means saving some bucks, Forget it.
Make sure that you seal all openings. It will save you problems. I use Sikka Flex rather than silicone. Get it from any marine supply store. It costs more, but it's worth it!
It does not matter what kind of tags you have on the truck. If you exceed the GVRW or the barke type combinations, YOU MUST provide a DL which says that you have been certified as competent to drive said rig. That WILL NOT change. DOT / MOT have very clear rules on that. You can see by the...
