I have already bought some BFG All Terrains for it but I am bringing a trailer to tow it back. I'm just hoping I won't have to push it on the truck. As soon as I get it back here to Houston I will probably change the oil, get the driveshaft balanced, replace the hoses and belts, the tires...
Yeah it's already been bought and it's in AL. Of course I looked at the pictures when I bid and looked at them hard. I didn't see anything that looked bad at all. Even the tires looked good. I just don't know how tight they are on security when other people come in to get something. I could...
I keep seeing people saying that when they picked up their vehicle from gov liquidation it had been "molested". Should I be worried that the vehicle I bid on in pictures won't be as it was when I bid on it? Do people steal the spare tires, batteries, etc?
I am looking at some 1990 Dodge Ram aircraft hauler trucks with 5.9 liter Cummins Diesel motors in them. Some are very low miles. One of them with only 16k miles on the clock. I will let everyone know if I wind up winning one. I like the idea of putting an old 12 valve Cummins into my M1009...
If you can afford a note you can save up and then just buy one cash. Take on some extra work and scrape up around $1500 which can get you a nice one. Going into debt over a vehicle is never a good idea. I understand that not very many people can afford a brand new car but we aren't talking...
I have and was told by one guy it would cost around $750. I looked at the instructions and it really looks pretty simple. I did buy this truck to learn how to work on vehicles past my current abilities so I should probably go ahead and do it myself. I will chronicle everything with pictures...
Actually I just read an old post about converting a M1009 and found this system:
C / K Series Military M-1009 Truck / Blazer A/C System - Chevrolet AC Kits for Trucks
It's what I will be using for sure. :-D
Anyone ever use one in an M1009 or other CUCV? I found this site right here:
Universal Underdash A/c System - Miscellaneous Vehicles
A guy that works on my Land Cruiser said he has one in an FJ40 and that it freezes him out. They have a whole kit that even has a dash vent that I could...
Honestly it sounds like something in your tranny just shifting. You may take it back to the shop and have them look at it. I had something similar in an old Chevy truck.
Sorry I must have skipped over it by accident. Eager to help I guess! Does the bump happen before or after the trans shifts? If it happens before or after is it uniform in time to the trans shifting or does it just happen whenever?
Is anyone near or picking up a vehicle there soon? I'm trying to get info on the truck I bought from GL there and they are taking their time getting it back to me. If anyone is picking up something there soon or is in the area and can run over there (I'll send some money for gas and you time...
I would get under the truck and index the drive shaft and then pull the four bolts that hold it on off. Then check the u-joint's side to side and up and down movement. If it's not smooth you should go ahead and replace the u-joint. If you don't have a good shop vise you will probably have a...
That's your spark plug controller private! :-D
Just kidding of course. I think it's a 5-blade headlight relay. You might make sure all your lights are working (headlights high and low, running lights, blinkers, blackout lights too).
I have found quite a few older 1987-1991 (fuel injected) Suburbans in my local area that run for less than $1500. The reason why I want to purchase one is that I would like the AC system out of it to put into my CUCV M1009. I might even try and put in the rear cooler! Also I would like to...
