    seats and center console

I too have been thinking about the Tuffy Box or maybe even fabbing my own. It really wouldn't be hard at all to make one. I work in the oilfield supply business and there are a lot of people out there that can bend steel or other metals that I deal with. The best way to do it is just to draw...

    M1009 Whip Antenna Question

What about one of those "hidden" antennas that you stick on your windshield? I am thinking about one when I go to put a stereo in my M1009. I found one on Ebay and the link is below. Car Stereo Amplified Hidden Antenna AM / FM reception:eBay Motors (item 170361181054 end time Jul-26-09...

Well I went down to Discount tire and picked up some BFG All-Terrain KOs. 32x11.50x15 so hopefully the stock 15 rims are still on there!!! Although I'm sure they are judging by the pictures.

    seats and center console

I would go with a black marine vinyl unless you can find someone that can do OD green. I am in the process of getting some black ones for my Land Cruiser and the trucks I've seen that had them looked great. Also it is very tough, water resistant, and cheap. For the center console I'm thinking...

    Home Made Tow Bar

I've given a lot of thought to the tire issue as well. I might actually bring a set with me that I have purchased before hand. Maybe even have them mounted on rims ready to go should I need them. I know I can purchase some tires online but where would I get CUCV rims? Right now the trucks...

    Home Made Tow Bar

Also I noticed for some reason it won't open the picture of the tow bar up larger. I will try a different approach when I get home.

    Home Made Tow Bar

Ok as I've mentioned I'm trying to make my own tow bar to go get my M1009 in Alabama. I have a 3/4 ton truck to pull the thing so that should provide enough power. First below is the design for a tow bar. Please feel free to pick it apart. Ok I'm going to be making this thing out of 2" x...

Was Runnuning Fine & Then ?

Wow I've only seen one do that on a tractor one time when it was doing about 25 mph and BAM hit a stump. Just driving down the road is strange. Did any gears fall out?

    high way speed

Have you guys ever tried sound deadening material with a vinyl overlay? LMC trucks has the overlay/flooring and there a bunch of people that provide a good water proof sound deadening material. This will probably be one of my first editions.

    belts for my m1009

Sorry guys I'm totally new. So how do I figure out which combination of belts is used for my truck? Like I said in my other post I haven't picked it up yet but I'd like to have some new belts for it when I do. I know it is a driver's side alternator.

So where is the best place to get belts for these trucks? I thought about just buying some and having them ready when I showed up. Will NAPA even know what they heck I'm talking about?

I figured I would add some pictures. You guys take a look at the engine compartment and let me know if it looks like anything is missing!

Sure I'll swing by. I would like to actually take some measurements so I can just fab my own bar. Yeah I read up on disconnecting the drive shaft.

Yet another M1009 owner in Houston

Thanks for all the info thus far. I didn't realize that 50 mph was an issue for these trucks. In the Army my M998 was supposedly the fastest in the motor pool and I buried it past 55 mph all the time. Are CUCVs geared differently? I have seen diesels "addicted" to starting fluid before and...
