OK, The truck weighs 13,000+ pounds. Probably just over 10k without the bed and winch.
That is 5 tons. Scrap is $210/ton today =$1,050
The bed is a gift to a contractor on craigslist at =$500
I'd be happy to pay you just for the pto =$150
I just paid for a winch only at =$300
A good...
I have a bodyshop friend who rebuilds trucks and has them inspected and titled. He has done it, vehicle gets inspected and new title as rebuilt or salvaged. Check with a local rebuilder. Also check with a salvage yard or towing company who picks up abandoned vehicles for the police. They usually...
Many went to local governments, emergency groups and fire departments. Some were not issued titles because they were considered "federal property" and on loan thru the Civil Defense program. After several years the CD program faded away and the local groups kept the trucks. Some were issued...
I have seen the center section taken out and flipped so they spin the right way. Yes he did bob the truck. I'll get some pics later. Any way, what are your plans for the title? Watch for farmers scrapping those trucks. you may be able to get the data plate and title. It would be useful to have...
I think he may have had a trans/transfercase and then the original transfercase. So he may have had 2 transfercases and was running rice and cane tractor tires that were as tall as I am.
I appreciate the fact you are willing to keep the original engine and trans. I just finished my trip home...
Welcome Jordan. My M211 came from Mille Lacs, not too far from you. I'm south of you about 3-4 hours. When you trailer it, remember it is over 12,400 pounds!
Watch the title issue if you are driving it on the road.
My gasser M211 starts at -20F every time.
I'm going to look at a...
Need two of those rubber test caps plumbers use for testing pvc pipes. I will put air to the drain petcock and see how it holds. On to the hardware store!
I'm going to try a small propane torch to solder the tank back on. Need to go pick up some flux and a roll of solder. I suspect I should try to clean up the mating surfaces with a wire wheel before I attempt it.
May try a light sandblasting????
At this point I still have no intention of...
Rodding and cleaning
I picked off come of the gunk with a screwdriver and then sprayed it with a garden hose. I stuck it inside the bottom tank and the flow is already better.
A 12" hacksaw blade is what I used to punch thru the end of the tube. I then used a longer 1/2" wide bandsaw blade...
Tank removal.
I used my oxy/acetalene cutting torch for heat. It is probably too hot, but that is what I have. I needed to work quick.
First heating the mounting bracket to run the solder out of the joint. It worked very well.
Second I heated the seam between the tank and core. I pointed...
This post is in result of my overheated truck in the middle South Dakota, 507 miles from home. Fortunately, I had another radiator. I will post my repair of this one in a true Gunfreak format :p
Here are a few preliminary pics so everyone can see what we are dealing with.
This is the top of...
Whoo Hoo! the pickup is loaded up for the third time. Heading out in 45 minutes. Truck is in Freemont MN this time. Taking the wife and kids on theis leg of the recovery. Has been relatively cheep so far, sleeping in trucks, eating out of a cooler and begging food from Maccus. I suspect this leg...
Sure would appreciate pics of the fording kit. I would be very appreciative of any info you would share. I want one really bad! When I find one to buy or copy, I will definitely try it out and post the video. I have a gravel bottom boat ramp all picked out on a clear lake. I think I started a...
Yea, like every 3 miles only after 10pm on the interstate. It took 12 hrs to go 350 miles. no place open to get parts. Got home at 0700. Happy to get a shower with water. :)
