Advance Adapters has had their hands on these engines for awhile and has already come out with at least 1 trans adapter (check out the Dirt Every Day episodes with this engine). Engine comes with everything needed to make it run/operate. Have to figure out mounts, plumbing, intake/exhaust.
I...
Agreed, the planned price doesn't always match what it comes out to. 8k ish makes it very competitive with other crate engines of similar power which is their planned goal.
If that's the case then the PT pump (the only fuel pump on this series of truck) is not the problem.
The PT pump is mounted on the engine. Pulls the fuel from the tank and through the filter using suction, and cranks it up to much higher pressures.
Sounds like the fuel hoses have rotted out...
Do you mean the 'intervehicular cable' for the lights? Many of the vendors carry them or if the ends are good you can get some replacement wires and build a new cable.
It was done to some of the later m39 5 tons. Never driven a truck with the older power steering but on my m816 wrecker it only takes 1 finger to turn it from lock to lock when sitting still on pavement, even with 500 extra pounds added to the front.
The m817 will be more efficient with the power (manual trans vs auto), the duals are more stable with a load, dump bed works great, simpler truck that is a little more reliable. The transmission PTO that drives the dump bed is most likely a double sided unit that can power the front winch (if...
Umm, there is a guy dealing with warranty work right now through Leroy in regards to a P400 long block. (GEP makes both the P400 and the Optimizer 6500). He's a distributor for their long blocks. The guy has had new heads delivered under warranty and if that doesn't work is looking at a complete...
Due to the compression ratio of the multifuel a relatively small turbo is actually just about perfect for it. Also the stock turbo from the earlier mechanical DT466 engines is smaller than a hx35. The C turbo is more equivalent to a hx30.
Turbo map of a hx35. Paired with it's larger exhaust...
Got a call from a friend that there was a 5 ton cargo truck stuck out in the lake with water over the headlights, so took the wrecker down to help out. Knew beforehand that the front winch cable was crap so didn't use it. Setup on the dirt road just past the beach and ran out the rear winch...
Not original plumbing on that truck then. Only plumbing from the power steering pump was used for power steering.
There were 2 different models of power steering on that generation truck (neither were connected using QD's).
Sounds like the previous owner had something extra plumbed in.
