I beam for the skids would work, just needs to be the right thickness.
Pic gives an idea of height when there is a skid platform underneath for a removable camper. And one way to remove/install a camper (a bed winch with a tail roller at the end of the bed).
Diesels are run lean by design with no issues, unlike a gas engine (one of those things that does not compare with both engine types). Increasing the fuel with a diesel engine increases the power but without increasing the air (basically requires a turbo) the exhaust gas temperatures rise very...
Problem with the cargo cover is the height, can't stand up straight. Fine for short periods but to live in would suck. Could work if you set it up where you were always sitting while in the camper. The canvas/vinyl will get torn up.
Have to stretch the wheelbase and frame for the m146 secured...
As you noted the block is cast for the piston squirters but the passage was never drilled out, part of the military contract. Coolant type doesn't really matter for these engines but the PH is important.
Absolutely agree EGT's are the main concern and a gauge is the best first engine mod.
The pumps on these move a fairly high volume but not alot of pressure. Basically there are 3 pumps in the LDT/LDS system. In tank pump, booster pump, then the main injection pump (hydraulic head).
The truck needs the volume and the pressure from each pump to run right. With the truck running it...
Glad that it ran solid for 30 minutes, looking like a restriction in the lines was a problem. Did you purge the hard line that runs into the fuel tank as well or just the other ones?
Not likely to be the HH either. Sounds like either one of the fuel delivery hoses is plugged up or the in tank pump has a blockage.
Install a pressure gauge at the tank then flip on the electrical. Need to have at least 5 psi there with just the in tank pump running (3psi minimum with the...
Although technically correct on some models, that's not what the original disagreement was about. It was a redirect. Disagreement was about fuel being shut off to the cylinders while the Jake brakes are active. Which is correct, fuel is not injected into the cylinders during Jake brake...
Reference pics of the shelter in the closed/expanded setup. Pics ain't mine, got em from the forum awhile ago when first figuring out how to setup one as a camper. Hopefully pick up a trailer with one of these shelters on it next year.
The NHC250 will take the mindset of a Detroit 2 stroke when revved over 2000rpm, meaning it will suck the fuel tank dry in a heartbeat. Wreckers are rated at the worst expected fuel economy for the 5 tons (3mpg). Driving at 1950-2000rpm my m816 is averaging 6.2-6.5mpg up here in Utah.
Scrap metal delivery!!
Still working on the flatbed for the pickup and needed some plate to mount the tail lights. So rather than drag the sawzall out there, figured I'd work in the shade haha. Yes, having a wrecker will spoil you.
Yea can't mount anything to the walls BUT (getting a bit creative) could mount them to the ceiling and floor of the main body on a roller system and move them into the expanded areas.
Expanding the shelter might not be necessary though for 1-2 living full time in it comfortably. Depends on each...
Moss68x grab a set of coveralls. Normally I work on my wrecker in a gravel lot and have no issues dragging myself around with coveralls on. Hot yes but when the dark blue coveralls look completely tan, worth it haha.
