My suggestions, Sir, is cough up the $$ and have it towed commercially by a competent, insured, commercial towing company. That way if anything untoward should occur, you are legally covered. If you try it on your own and the PD/or CHP gets you, you are done. If you have an...
BAsed on some of the nuts on the old S404.114, mostly I used my tools for railroad locomotive and car repair, because some of the stuff was that large, or stuck with age. The hub center nuts on the wheels will drive your average mechanic nuts as they have never seen anything that large, nor do...

I might suggest get a civillian backhoe on hire large enough to lift your mill, as the Unimog front end loader and backhoe are limited in their power, and I would be worried about the axles and outriggers not being up to that weight. a Standard Unimog unloaded runs about...

So what is the problem? If you are driving on a Provincial Highway with a military vehicle that generally cannon exceed 50-55 MPH (roughly 80 KM/PH), you could present a safety hazard. Conventional S404.114 Unimogs start having problems above 60-65 KPH, and a Unimog of that...
As above, on M35A2's the mounts are to the right of the transmission gear shift lever on most vehicles of that class. Mine had a mount with two racks or clips.

At least you have no mice in your brake system. The mice in the brakes is very common on RR equipment if the brakeman leaves the end angle cocks open when cutting out a car (especially in a rural area).

When you rebuild your front busted driveshaft, get a machine shop to cut the shaft and substitute either 1 or 1-1/2 ton U joints. I did that with an 1989 Ford F250 HD and never had any problems with either the shafts or the U joints.

And should you want to find it a new home, keep me in mind as I am looking for an ex USAF truck in good shape, M35A2, Step Van, PU or HMMWV! Good catch!

If its a one way trip, be very cautious, use the right height hitch and plan your stops. If it's going to be a daily thing, I'd say not because your truck doesn't have the right (air) brake system. The lawyers will be waiting to eat your carcass in the case of a wreck. I would...

We had a stock M715 that took considerable abuse by then then owner, who could mess up an iron ball with a rubber mallet. Beyond the water pump failing due to the four belt pulley load on the front bearing, and minor carb issues, the only other thing of note was the owner blew a...

NB on the return of weapons from S. Korea. Good luck! Most were used up and rebuilt so many times that it is very hard to find a useable one in the lot. I used to know the Springfield Armory rebuild marks, and an M1903-A3 I had in 1982 was so rebuilt that the parts were off...

For the OP, you might want to examine how Illinois handled the FMV situation with their legislation regarding Old Military Vehicles.....
Good luck in any case.

Let us just say that the Green Goat railroad locomotives that have had Cat engines as their prime movers have not left a good taste among railroad mechanics as to either the price of parts or the ease of repair compared to the older GE and GM-EMD engines. Speaking for myself...
Under "new" vehicle build rules fr classic vehicles-pity we can't figure out a way!

Gentlemen and Ladies:
Under the new vehicle build rules for classic vehicles, isn't it a pity we haven't figured out a way to bring in new KIA M450 derivatives of the old Jeep M715 PU...

One of these days you would do better to get together and set up an import corporation for the KIA version of the M715, it has the diesel and AC......!

The Mighty Mite uses a peculiar 104 or 107 CID air Cooled V-4 much like a Wisconsin chipper engine, mine was only happy when it snowed, was below zero, or raining like hades. The problem is that they put the oil cooler on the intake side of the cooling air circuit instead of...

Why do either a Cummins, Chevy or GMC swap?? Me, I'd do a Deutz and get a much better power plant for the money. Just my 2 cents based on the beatings I have seen industrial and marine Deutz's take and keep on running. Plus, if you really want to annoy the neighbors, use an air...

Unless they run into it, or like the guy in CA years ago that broke into the armory and took one (tank) for a test drive. There are NO crumple zones in a Sherman Tank unless they are induced by a German 88.

If the forklift driver had worked for GL, Rustystud's driveshafts on his CUCV would've been bent, not the rear cab window taken out! Ouch! This is why I always preferred the Deuce or Unimog for such jobs, as the bed was much higher, the cab better protected, and with at 10 or...
